Xiao Wan, the Rampaging Doctor

The entrance to Midnight Escape slowly swung shut. The creaking of the door was like a chain tightening around the hearts of the medical students.

"He Shan, based on your experience last time, what should we do now?"

"Find an exit, quickly—the sooner, the better!"

After locking the scene's entrance, Chen Ge immediately called Xiao Wan. The two of them headed to the Prop Room together.

"Boss, why did you call me over in such a hurry? Didn't the visitors already go inside?" Xu Wan had put on corpse makeup and was wearing the outfit from the Ghost Marriage scene. As she hurried about, she really was a little frightening.

"I made a new horror scene on the third floor called Midnight Escape. These Forensic Medical College students are brave, so I figured I'd let them test it out." Chen Ge pushed open the Prop Room door and began searching according to the Black Phone's instructions.

"Doesn't the Paradise Park have to inspect new scenes before they can be put into use?" Xu Wan lifted the hem of her traditional dress as she walked over. "Boss, what are you looking for?"

"The uniform I had custom-made for you."

"A uniform?"

At the very back of the room, Chen Ge spotted a familiar wooden box in the corner. He hadn't expected the box, which had originally held the Black Phone and Rag Doll, to be here.

He walked over and peered inside. At the bottom of the box lay a strangely shaped hammer, a robe soaked in blood, and a yellowed Missing Person Notice.

"Found it." Chen Ge lifted the clothes. To his surprise, the seemingly ordinary Doctor Uniform was extremely heavy. Iron chains carved with Human Faces were wrapped inside it.

"Boss, this is the uniform you had made for me?" Xu Wan took a step back. Even from several paces away, she seemed to be able to smell the blood on it. "Do I really have to wear it?"

"Haunted House performers are performers too. Xiao Wan, think about what your teachers at the drama school used to say. You have to hold yourself to a high standard." Chen Ge shook out the clothes, and a Human Skin Mask fell out.

Chen Ge hadn't known anything else was hidden inside. He picked up the mask and felt a chill of revulsion after one glance.

It was stitched together from different men's faces. The work was crude, and the mask gave off a distinctly hysterical air.

"Boss, don't tell me I have to wear this too." Xu Wan had already retreated to the doorway.

"It's just a trial. I want to see how the new scene works as a whole. I'll play the ghost next time, all right?" Chen Ge sounded like the Devil luring someone to their downfall in a fairy tale.

"Fine... I'll give it a try." In the end, Xu Wan's heart softened. She took the mask and Doctor Uniform and, without bothering to avoid Chen Ge, took off her traditional outfit and changed. "Boss, honestly, your definition of a uniform has really opened my eyes."

She wrapped the chains from inside the uniform around herself and put on the blood-soaked coat. The moment Xu Wan put on the mask, something about her seemed to change. She radiated a crazed, vicious, and utterly cruel aura.

"Looks great." Chen Ge didn't let Xu Wan look in a mirror. He was afraid she might scare herself. "Here, take this too."

Chen Ge took the oddly shaped hammer out of the box. It was about forty centimeters long, and its handle was shaped like a living person's spine. The end connected to the chains inside the coat, and sharp spikes on either side of the head were designed to draw blood. "It's hollow, so it isn't too heavy. If you find it cumbersome when you're moving fast, you can drag it along."

Xu Wan had given up resisting. She nodded and took the hammer.

"Keep your phone in the outer pocket, check your earpiece, and stay in touch. If everything's fine, it's time for us to go onstage."

"Us? Boss, are you going into the scene too?" Xu Wan turned to look at Chen Ge. Her clear, pleasant voice paired with that stitched-together man's face gave him a stomachache.

"Of course. Come on, the visitors are probably getting impatient."

Chen Ge sent Xu Wan into the Midnight Escape scene, then returned to the central control room.

It sounded like a long time, but only a few minutes had passed. He found the seven medical students on the monitors. They were far more timid than Gao Ruxue; the expressions on their faces made it clear that every one of them was nervous.

"They've been wandering around the first few rooms on the third floor this whole time. Looks like I need to put a little pressure on them." Chen Ge first changed the background music to Gloomy Sunday, then called Xu Wan. "Xiao Wan, this new horror scene is huge. It covers the entire third floor of the Haunted House, as well as parts of the second and first floors. There's a staircase on either side. Don't run around on your own later. Wait for my instructions."

"Understood."

After speaking with Xu Wan, Chen Ge quickly applied some makeup, then entered the Midnight Escape scene through the staff passage.

With the Black Phone, he could control dozens of mechanisms in the scene whenever he wanted. That alone made Midnight Escape far more engaging than Ghost Marriage and Zombie Resurrection Night.

In the cold, dark corridor, the bathtub in one of the rooms was pushed aside. Chen Ge crawled out, then put everything back the way it had been.

"Xiao Wan, they're probably near Room 207 on the third floor. Go guard the staircase on the left and wait for my next instruction." After that, Chen Ge let his eyes adjust to the darkness, then went up to the third floor via the staircase on the right.

At that moment, the students from Han Jiang Forensic Academy had no idea that "danger" was closing in. They were still carefully searching through the odds and ends in the rooms, hoping to find something useful.

"Other than being creepy and a little cold, this Haunted House doesn't seem to have much to be scared of. Maybe we're being too jumpy?" Monkey was the shortest of them and the most talkative. "Feng Ge, I think we should split into two teams. We'll search faster that way. It's a waste of time crowding together."

Feng Ge, the tallest of the group, had already started to panic after entering Midnight Escape and realizing all his preparations had been useless. But as time passed, he gradually began to feel that the scene wasn't all that frightening. "Splitting up works too. Monkey, you and Lao Song take the two girls and search the rooms on the left. The three of us will search the rooms on the right."

"We should've done this ages ago. I really don't know what's supposed to be scary about this place. It's nothing compared to the morgue at our school." The speaker was a girl, the only one in the group with dyed hair. She had a completely different vibe from Gao Ruxue: with her makeup, she looked mature and sexy, not much like a student.

"Hui Jie, Feng Ge, don't let your guard down. We'd better stick together." He Shan cowered behind the others, his face pinched. "The Haunted House Owner never plays by the rules. You haven't watched his livestreams. He's a madman who doesn't care if he lives or dies!"
