Chen Ge's House of Horrors only had two scenarios: Zombie Resurrection Night and Carousel.
Zombie Resurrection Night had been described as worthless by the Black Phone, and Chen Ge had reflected on this; that horror scenario indeed had many problems. Furthermore, to perform that scenario in its entirety, at least three employees were needed to coordinate.
"Xu Wan, our theme today is Carousel. I'll go tune the background music in a moment. When you're playing the ghost, remember to plug your ears. Also, I'll do your makeup for you today."
"Boss, you know how to do makeup?" Xu Wan smirked. "Sure, but don't turn me into a monster."
"Don't worry, I'll make you breathtakingly beautiful."
The two entered the dressing room. Chen Ge pressed Xu Wan down in front of the mirror and gently stroked her face with his palm.
"Use Beginner Talent Skill—Corpse Makeup."
Looking at the young, cute girl in the mirror, a flood of memories that didn't belong to him slowly surged into Chen Ge's mind. They were extremely chaotic, consisting not just of color application and makeup techniques, but also fundamental knowledge of Oral Science, Human Anatomy, Human Osteology, and Thanatology.
"Boss, do you actually know how to do makeup?" Thirty seconds passed. Xu Wan sat in front of the mirror, feeling the unfamiliar temperature on her face and watching herself being handled in the reflection. Her heart pounded, and she felt inexplicably embarrassed.
"A good makeup artist designs different styles based on different face shapes. Xu Wan, you have a great foundation." Chen Ge had no distracting thoughts in his mind; after using Corpse Makeup, Xu Wan was already a "corpse" in his eyes.
"Tweezers, scalpel, medical clamps, sutures, alcohol, embalming needles—I don't have any of these here. It seems I can only perform the most basic makeup." Chen Ge was talking to himself, but he scared the living daylights out of Xu Wan, who sat in the chair. The girl couldn't fathom why such terrifying things were needed to do makeup for a haunted house actor. She felt a bit afraid, but too embarrassed to refuse, so she tilted her head, secretly observing her boss from the corner of her eye and praying silently.
"The foundation color is too uniform, the blush is too bright—it's an eyesore. Why can't I find the lipstick?" Chen Ge muttered, eventually starting to mix his own colors. His movements were skillful, his fingers nimble, and his ability to distinguish colors was incredibly sharp; he didn't look like a shut-in who had never touched makeup before.
The scene before her eyes also made Xu Wan feel it was incredible. Mixing colors and applying makeup entirely on his own—this was unheard of!
"Boss, I don't think you need to be so strict with yourself. It's so dark in the haunted house, the tourists won't be able to see clearly..."
"Less talk, don't move." Before Xu Wan could finish, Chen Ge had already applied the foundation and was dabbing on the eyeshadow he had mixed.
With just a few strokes, a simple eyeshadow application, Xu Wan's temperament underwent a significant change, gaining a hint of cold elegance and mystery.
Xu Wan had intended to continue arguing, but after seeing herself in the mirror, her small mouth slowly opened. Everyone loves beauty, especially a woman.
"A single cherry red is monotonous and lacks depth, but adding Hibiscus Purple makes all the difference. The two colors transition perfectly and fuse together as if they were born for each other." Chen Ge explained casually as he used a brush to dab blush onto the back of his hand.
"Boss, what are you doing?"
"The cheap blush in our haunted house is too bright and saturated to create visual impact, so I'm blending it on the back of my hand first." Chen Ge's movements were gentle. A moment later, the blush became refined, and the powder even took on a subtle, silky sheen.
By now, Xu Wan's mouth was shaped like an 'O'. "You're full of surprises! Where did you learn all this?"
"I know plenty of things. Beauty and hair styling are just my hobbies." Chen Ge smiled slightly. Good things come in pairs; the extra memories in his mind proved once again that the mobile game could indeed influence reality.
It took Chen Ge only ten minutes to finish Xu Wan's makeup. "Look in the mirror. Are you satisfied?"
Looking up, it seemed as if a thin veil had been lifted from the mirror's surface. The person in the reflection looked as if she had stepped out of a poem or painting, carrying the charm of a classical Oriental woman, yet there was an indefinable difference.
Staring at the mirror, Xu Wan couldn't help but stand up. She looked at herself, her expression shifting from shock to intoxication, before suddenly shivering.
"Boss, I've never been this beautiful. Is the person in the mirror really me?"
"Of course."
"But..." She reached toward the mirror, hesitating. "Why do I feel like I'm looking at a dead person?"
Xu Wan's words made Chen Ge gasp. He finally understood what was different.
Corpse Makeup was intended to restore the beauty of the deceased to the greatest extent; the makeup Chen Ge had applied was never meant for the living.
"Stop looking. The park is opening soon. Go change your costume and stay in the venue on the second floor. Remember to wear your Bluetooth headset and follow my orders." Chen Ge changed the subject and sent Xu Wan away. He used the remaining time to process the Paper Figures and dolls in the scenario. Under the influence of the Corpse Makeup skill, all the Paper Figures seemed to come alive, a sense of vitality hidden within their deathly aura.
"That will do for now. I'll repaint them all when I have time later."
Chen Ge put away his toolbox and hurried downstairs. Before he even reached the entrance of the haunted house, he heard the tourists talking outside.
"You got scammed by that wicked guy too, right?"
"Damn it! My phone screen is shattered, what do you think?"
"You guys had it easy. I had my pants down, my hand slipped, I clicked the wrong thing, and this thing popped up! It scared me so bad I did a carp leap and jumped up. My parents heard the noise and thought I was having a nightmare, so they ran over to check. Holy crap! I wasn't wearing anything, just holding a roll of toilet paper. My parents were stunned when they saw me!"
Listening to the tourists' laments, Chen Ge barely managed to hold back his laughter. He took a deep breath, maintained a serious expression, and pushed open the doors of the House of Horrors.
"Welcome everyone to my House of Horrors."
Seeing the long line and the fully armed tourists, the corners of Chen Ge's mouth curled upward.
"Little Chen, you've got a long line this early in the morning. Not bad." The staff member from the nearby Carousel was a bit surprised. He had originally wanted to greet Chen Ge, but upon getting closer, he realized the atmosphere among the tourists was off.
"It's alright, the tourists just like it," Chen Ge shrugged and pulled back the safety barrier.
"Who likes it? Shameless!"
"I'm here to cause trouble, not to sightsee!"
"Found the culprit! You're the one who posted that short video last night, right? Where's my knife? Where's my knife!"
The tourists were too enthusiastic, and the situation spiraled out of control. Chen Ge immediately spoke up: "Since you're all here, why not go in and experience it? The best way to soothe fear is through sensory stimulation—fighting poison with poison to make yourself numb. I admit I didn't consider things carefully with that video last night. How about this: all tickets for the haunted house are half-price today. Don't miss out while you're passing by."
