Chen Ge was glad he hadn't badmouthed Zhang Ya behind her back. He gave an awkward smile. "I just thought the Dance Studio was too stuffy, so I came out for some air."
Red blood trickled down from her collar, soaking her body again and again. Zhang Ya stared at Chen Ge for a long time, then raised her pale, slender arm and pointed toward the Campus Office Building.
"You want me to go there?" Before Chen Ge could ask anything else, Zhang Ya disappeared.
Chen Ge was now only a few meters from the school gate. He hesitated. If he went to investigate, he might run into danger again, but if he left now, he'd be unwilling to give up.
"Zhang Ya seems to have softened toward me a little. Her hint should have something to do with the case from four years ago. But there seems to be more than one terrifying presence like Zhang Ya in this school. It's safer to wait for the police before going back in."
After climbing out of the school grounds, Chen Ge waited outside with the Tool Hammer in hand. He wasn't sure if Zhang Peng was still alive, so he stayed on high alert, ready to rush in and finish him off at any moment.
Fifteen minutes later, glaring headlights pierced the night as two police cars approached from the end of the road.
Chen Ge came out from the roadside, waving his phone's flashlight. "I'm over here!"
The police cars stopped at the entrance to West City Private School. Captain Li and another completely unfamiliar officer got out.
"Uncle Li, you got here pretty fast." By Chen Ge's estimate, it should have taken the police at least another half hour to arrive.
"We got a report from a taxi
