Thick blood dripped from the ceiling, painting the entire corridor red.
The air was damp. With every breath, it felt as though his lungs were soaking in blood.
Liu Kang stopped in his tracks. The overwhelming splash of color made him doubt his own eyes. Just as he tried to turn around, a tremendous force slammed into his back.
His legs gave way, and Liu Kang fell to the floor. He looked back behind him.
Macho Man and A-Li came sprinting out of the passage. They hadn't expected Liu Kang to stop so suddenly and had no time to slow down, so they crashed right into him.
The three of them tumbled into a heap, watching as Ghost Doll and the black dog entered the Secret Passage.
A hideous, terrifying face slowly drew closer, followed by one pale arm after another. When they reached Liu Kang, something no one had expected happened.
The terrifying ghosts didn't come any closer. They stopped inside the Secret Passage, then slammed the battered iron door shut, fear and unease in their eyes.
The chains rattled, and the rust-covered iron door seemed to lock itself.
"Th-this means we're safe, right?"
The three visitors lay sprawled on the floor, their expressions complicated. They only dared to look at one another and didn't even dare let their gazes wander.
"An exit?" A-Li asked in a whisper, but that question was never going to get an answer.
"Maybe it is. Though it doesn't really look like one. Maybe the Haunted House wanted to give us a bonus surprise before we left?" Macho Man's voice sounded bitter. He slowly got to his feet, his heart pounding.
"That does make some sense." Liu Kang stood up too, his body trembling slightly. Everything around him was too shocking to take in.
