"Why did the haunted house actor suddenly scream?" Chen Ge ran a haunted house himself and had heard countless screams, so he was certain that actor hadn't been pretending. He'd encountered something truly terrifying. There was no way that scream had been faked.
"This is getting more and more interesting. A haunted house actor got scared like that in his own haunted house."
Someone pounded hard on the door leading out of the Projection Hall. The screams grew louder. Chen Ge tried to open the door and take another look, but found it wouldn't budge.
"Combining virtual projections with live actors is a great idea, but sometimes there may be a few coordination problems."
The screaming hadn't stopped, and a whistling sound from the other end of the corridor was drawing closer.
The lights went out. Only after using Yin Pupil could Chen Ge make out a man in a chef's uniform standing down the corridor. He was obese, and his once-white uniform was covered in blood. Half a human head was stuffed into a pocket on his belly.
"A cannibal chef?"
The shoes worn by this haunted house actor were specially made to make little noise as he walked. Now, with the corridor lights out, he was clutching an absurdly huge kitchen knife and charging toward Chen Ge.
If Chen Ge's guess was right, the lights would come back on in a few seconds, just as the chef reached him, giving him a fright.
"Not a bad idea. Too bad my eyesight's pretty good."
The chef charged through the darkness, and Chen Ge started running too.
