But the question was, why should they pay? Darui and the others had been caught in Sharingan genjutsu, and the person who dragged them in front of Killer B had also possessed a Sharingan. If he had not happened to run into Killer B, there was no telling whether they would have been returned at all. There was no evidence whatsoever that Genkyo had rescued Darui and the others.
And to take an even less charitable view, even if they really had rescued them, the men were already back in their own village. Wasn't it up to Kumogakure whether to pay? Thirty-five million ryo was far too greedy, wasn't it?
At that thought, the Raikage suddenly recalled the message Konoha had sent earlier, along with the Two-Tails he had lost through his own arrogance. He fell silent for a moment. An alliance is fine, but Konoha can't even keep its own people in line. They owe us an explanation!!
