History

Following the Third Hokage's death, Konoha enters a period of adjustment while dealing with the fallout of Orochimaru's actions and Sasuke's abduction. 10

Uzumaki Reikawa arrives at Konoha seeking shelter under a fabricated Uzumaki identity. The village accepts him despite having no verifiable record of his background, largely because an Uzumaki survivor's sealing abilities would be valuable. 20 He later becomes involved with Team 7 and assists Sasuke against Orochimaru while concealing much of his strength from the village. 24 38

As Akatsuki begins targeting jinchūriki, Konoha sends Reikawa and Shibi Aburame to Sunagakure to protect Gaara. Tsunade also considers covertly moving Shukaku to Konoha if Sunagakure cannot keep the One-Tail safe. 51

Konoha later receives Hyuga Mokujin as a goodwill gesture from Genkyo. The proposed exchange creates internal conflict over the Byakugan and whether Konoha can afford to antagonize Genkyo. 69

Genkyo Exchange

Genkyo's offer to send Hyuga Mokujin to Konoha forces Tsunade and the village elders to weigh the value of reclaiming a Byakugan user against the danger of creating another enemy. 69
