Seeing this, the two stopped what they were doing at the same time, as though sharing an unspoken understanding.
The battle came to a halt!
Uchiha Madara frowned. "This wasn't your doing?"
Hashirama Senju looked around helplessly. "Honestly, I still don't even understand what's going on."
Uchiha Madara snorted. Though deeply displeased, he knew Hashirama had no reason to lie to him about something like this.
Just then, Hashirama remembered that Uchiha Gen had apparently known all along that Uchiha Madara would come here. "Wait. I think someone might know what's happening."
Hashirama Senju jumped down toward the foot of the waterfall, intending to get Uchiha Gen out of here first. But when he looked closely, he discovered that the person who should have been beneath the waterfall had vanished without him noticing!
When Hashirama left, Uchiha Madara did not stay put and wait. Instead, he wanted to seize the opportunity to leave. He certainly wanted a good, all-out fight with Hashirama, but not now. This battle was meaningless.
Besides—Uchiha Madara watched the surroundings continue to change according to some unknown pattern, and a bad feeling rose in his heart. But no matter what ninjutsu this was, it would stop working beyond a certain distance!
Yet just as Uchiha Madara was about to leave, the sky suddenly blazed with light! Dazzling white filled his vision!
When he came to his senses, Uchiha Madara surveyed his surroundings warily. Sensing something, he immediately looked down and discovered that he was wearing coarse clothes patched with fabric of other colors.
It was daytime. Around him stood a cluster of somewhat dilapidated buildings of varying heights. Uchiha Madara was standing in a gap between the houses, with the occasional passerby crossing ahead of him. The place looked like an extremely poor village.
Just then,
