Background / History
Originally named Ye Yuan, Gen recalls helping a lost child find their parents before inexplicably transmigrating. He awakens as an Uchiha resurrected by Orochimaru through the Impure World Reincarnation technique, with no clear explanation for why his summoned body belongs to the Uchiha clan. 2
Orochimaru quickly notices that Gen behaves abnormally for a reanimated body and attempts to keep him under control. Gen, meanwhile, immediately begins considering how to escape Orochimaru’s command while extracting useful resources from him. 1 2
Gen later uses the identity Uzumaki Reikawa to enter Konoha, presenting himself as a displaced Uzumaki survivor. The persona gives him access to Konoha while concealing both his Edo Tensei nature and his objective of taking the Sharingan held by Danzō. 20 21
After obtaining multiple skins and assigning them to clones, Gen establishes the prototype of Genkyo, an organization operating through identities including Uchiha Gen, Hyuga Mokujin, and Bone Lord. 50
Appearance
Gen’s appearance changes frequently because of his system-provided skins, disguises, and clone identities. His original restored face retains visible cracks associated with his Impure World Reincarnation body. 12 17
- His initial identity, Jiya, has an ordinary-looking face and wears an Otogakure forehead protector around his left arm. 2
- His original/restored appearance has long black hair and a cracked face. 12
- As Uzumaki Reikawa, he has long red hair and resembles a healthy version of Nagato. 20
- His Shikotsumyaku skin gives him pale skin, short white hair, green eyes, and visible bone spurs. 46 50
- He often wears masks to conceal the cracks on his Edo Tensei body. 37
Personality
Gen is eccentric, theatrical, and prone to treating dangerous situations with flippancy. He openly describes his former self as a “drama queen” with mild persecutory delusions, and his behavior often leaves others convinced that he is unstable. 2 3 4
Despite his manipulative streak, he repeatedly shows restraint toward people he considers unfortunate or vulnerable. He buys food for the Sound trio, worries about Dosu Kinata’s fate, gives snacks to Konohamaru’s group, and refuses to immediately take Sasuke’s eyes even when doing so would advance his own objective. 2 4 7 13
He is highly practical about survival and money. Gen steals Orochimaru’s equipment for resale, exploits gambling pools with foreknowledge, and considers bounty hunting and robbery as potential sources of income. 3 8 18 43
Abilities & Skills
Sharingan
Gen possesses a Three-Tomoe Sharingan and uses it for genjutsu, perception, and combat prediction. 2
- Places Kabuto under genjutsu and approaches him unnoticed. 1
- Controls a Root ninja during his infiltration of Danzō’s hideout. 21
- Uses Sharingan-based perception to manipulate shuriken and seemingly slow time during his clash with Jiraiya. 15
- Is vulnerable to powerful genjutsu despite his Edo Tensei body; he specifically recognizes Itachi’s sealing and genjutsu as serious threats. 13
Genjutsu
Gen’s genjutsu is effective enough to incapacitate opponents without direct combat.
- Catches Kabuto off guard during Orochimaru’s test. 1
- Subdues casino thugs after they target him. 8
- Breaches Sunagakure’s defenses by placing several guards under genjutsu. 27
- Uses genjutsu while infiltrating and gathering intelligence rather than relying solely on lethal force. 9 27
Susanoo
Gen can manifest a black Susanoo despite possessing a Three-Tomoe Sharingan, making his true nature difficult for others to assess. 28 52
- Uses a black Susanoo against Obito. 28
- Defeats Five-Tails jinchūriki Han with a single empowered Susanoo strike. 35
- Provides defense beyond the utility of Rotation. 46

- Captures Kakuzu and Hidan while demanding signatures. 43
- Combines the chains with Rasengan against Chiyo’s puppets. 76
- Destroys six of Chiyo’s puppets; once a puppet is bound, it is effectively disabled. 78
- The chains have a brief vulnerability when deactivated, allowing Kakashi to strike him. 79
Instantaneous Shift
Gen’s Instantaneous Shift allows him to evade attacks, swap with clones, and reposition across great distances.
- Escapes Danzō’s final attack. 23
- Uses a recorded state and clone swap to evade the consequences of Kotoamatsukami. 23
- Appears directly before Sunagakure’s conference table, bypassing its preparations. 27
- Uses clones and skin disguises to misdirect White Zetsu surveillance. 52
Clones and Identity Network
Gen creates and coordinates clones that can wear separate skins and operate under independent identities. 15 50
- Uses clones for reconnaissance, missions, and misdirection. 50 52
- Maintains identities including Hyuga Mokujin, Bone Lord, and Uzumaki Reikawa simultaneously. 50
- Uses a clone to remain with Akatsuki while his main body departs via Instantaneous Shift. 37
- His clone’s exposure contributes to the revelation that Gen is a reanimated body. 54
