Background / History
Donald is a transmigrant who awakens in the body of Donald Merlinar, a seventeen-year-old and the sole surviving heir of the fallen House Merlinar. After integrating the previous owner's memories, he returns to the family home and rapidly adjusts to a world where the loss of status and personal weakness can be fatal 3.
His turning point is the Book of Truth, an artifact capable of manifesting Warcraft creatures, items, and buildings through energy and soul fragments. With limited early resources, he begins by hunting magical beasts, gathering cores, and creating temporary summons before obtaining his first permanent Human Footman, Clinton 3 5.
Donald finances his early development through hunting, the sale of a falsely presented “ancestral” Knight Greatsword, and later the Moonlight Wine business. He purchases manors, establishes Dark Night Manor, restores the Merlin family's visible standing, and pursues mage training under Master Messer 12 13 15 41.
After surviving assassination attempts and a demonic assault on his manor, Donald learns that Viscount Macbeth was connected to the destruction of his family. He begins treating the restoration of House Merlinar as both an ambition and a vendetta 36 51 57.
Appearance
Donald initially appears as a seventeen-year-old noble youth. Following his Demon Hunter transformation, his body develops into a tall, muscular frame over 1.85 meters, with enhanced coordination, sharper vision, and more defined facial features 3 59 65.
- Usually favors restrained noble clothing rather than ornate displays of wealth.
- At the Baron of Red Maple's banquet, he wears a plain formal suit, an apprentice badge, two rings, and carries a cane 19.
- His Demon Hunter spiritual perception causes his eyes to emit an abnormal red glow when activated 59.
- His transformed Demon Hunter form is conspicuous enough that he avoids revealing it publicly 65.
Personality
Donald is pragmatic, ambitious, and intensely focused on security. His first instinct after transmigrating is not heroism but survival: he gathers resources, conceals the Book of Truth, and avoids revealing abilities that could attract dangerous attention 3 41 91.
He is calculating in business and politics, willing to fabricate an ancestral provenance for a weapon, manipulate spies into serving as double agents, and exploit opponents' assumptions about his abilities 12 57 89. He nevertheless values people he considers his own, treating Code as family and taking responsibility for the safety and advancement of his retainers 11 60.
Donald is cautious even at high levels of power. He habitually prepares escape routes, defensive contingencies, and redundant equipment rather than relying on luck or direct confrontation 27 142 320 360.
Abilities & Skills
Book of Truth
The Book of Truth is Donald's defining artifact. It can summon Warcraft creatures, items, and buildings in exchange for energy, magical cores, Elemental Crystals, and soul power.
- Can create temporary or permanent summons; permanent, high-level manifestations require stronger resources and greater soul power 3 55.
- Its usable authority rises with Donald's mental origin and soul strength 27.
- Allows him to construct facilities such as farms and the Altar of Elders 29 57.
- Provides access to magical equipment, skill rewards, and information on manifested units and items 21 27.
- Donald conceals its true nature, presenting his forces and artifacts as family inheritances, alchemy, or conventional summoning 60 89 91.
Summoning and Command
Donald commands summoned creatures ranging from scouts and warhorses to elite infantry, treants, undead, and hero units.
- Human Footmen — Clinton, George, and Bush form his earliest permanent guard force; each is a heavily armored Tier 2 combatant with absolute loyalty to Donald 5 7.
- Defensive summons — He deploys Ancient Protectors, Gargoyles, and a battle puppet to defend Dark Night Manor 51 55.
- Combat summons — He uses creatures such as Dryads, Crypt Fiends, Hippogryphs, owls, and Lightning Lizards for specialized combat, pursuit, scouting, or travel 7 22 51 93.
- Tree of Life network — Through the Tree of Life and its Nature Barrier, Donald can shield the manor, sense living beings within its range, and distinguish hostility through mental fluctuations; beings below level nine are generally detectable unless they possess special concealment methods 51 56.
Magecraft
Donald trains as a mage and is formally certified at the Black Iron rank under Master Messer 27 28.
- Uses conventional spells including Mage Hand, Magic Missile, Daze, and Wind Arrow 36 70.
- His mage abilities are enhanced by unusually strong mental power, summoning resources, and Book of Truth equipment.
- He later becomes known as the Golden Archmage 289.
- He recognizes the need to keep his spellcasting and Demon Hunter abilities separate to avoid exposing his full capabilities 91.
Teleport
Donald selects the Archmage's Teleport as his first innate Book of Truth skill.
- Teleports him to locations within 100 kilometers that friendly units have previously reached 27.
- Has a thirty-minute cooldown at its initial documented level 27.
- Serves primarily as an escape and survival skill, though Donald recognizes its potential for surprise attacks after improvement 27.
Frost Nova and Drain Life
Donald later chooses Frost Nova and Drain Life as additional innate skills.
- Frost Nova damages enemies around a target point while reducing their movement and attack speed 72.
- Drain Life is selected as one of his early offensive options 72.
Demon Hunter Powers
Donald undergoes a hero-class change through the Altar of Elders, becoming a Demon Hunter 59.
- Gains dramatically enhanced physical strength, speed, senses, mental clarity, and Moon Glaive Mastery 59.
- Can use spiritual perception in place of ordinary sight 59.
- Can absorb demonic power to strengthen himself, a process that also extends his lifespan 58 65.
- Metamorphosis temporarily raises his strength beyond Bronze rank and close to early Silver rank, but produces a visibly monstrous form unsuitable for public use 65.
- Absorbing Fire-Burning Demon power leaves him vulnerable to freezing and cold-based attacks, which deal double damage 65.
- Demon-Hunting Eye and Demon Skin depend on demons slain; they were initially unavailable before he killed a demon 59.
Divine Power and Incarnations
After ascending, Donald develops powers beyond mortal magecraft.
- His divine Elf bloodline grants spell-like abilities comparable to those of a Gold-rank Nature Druid, providing a reserve power source when his spellcasting or melee options fail 276.
- His faith-based divinity develops the Nature Guardian Incarnation and the Demon Hunter Incarnation 507.
- He uses divine-domain-enhanced natural magic, divine lightning, Nature's Fury, and Light of Condemnation against god-level undead enemies 631.
- His Destruction Golden Body allows him to defeat resurrected demonic monsters with little difficulty 610.
- He can wield Legendary Wish, a law-based spell superior to ordinary ninth-level Wish magic 360.
Equipment / Weapons / Items
- Book of Truth — His central summoning, construction, exchange, and skill-granting artifact 3 27.
- Guardian Ring — A mid-tier magical ring that grants two levels of energy armor and increases overall defense by twenty percent 21.
- Scepter of Negation / Negation Staff — A high-grade staff that increases magical power by thirty percent, accelerates elemental gathering, and provides Mage Armor and Feather Fall 51 93.
- Moonblades — Demon Hunter weapons in which Donald has initial mastery; he can infuse them with demonic power for effects such as fire damage and fire projection 59 65.
- Space Mark — A storage item purchased after his auction profit 12.
- Reincarnation Crosses — Prepared substitute equipment that transfers lethal damage and allows Donald to survive a spell-energy storm 320.
- Sub-divine artifacts — Donald uses four such artifacts to extract the demigod Akse from the Forbidden Prison 420.
- Quasi-divine artifact — He claims one damaged quasi-divine artifact from Arcanist storage, choosing not to take both because of their immense repair and maintenance requirements 175.
Relationships
- Code — Donald's hereditary family steward and trusted guardian. Donald considers him family, while Code provides advice on noble politics and manages the household and manor 9 11 18.
- Clinton — Donald's first permanent Human Footman, infantry captain, and utterly loyal retainer. Clinton accompanies him through hunts, assassination attempts, and the Orc campaign 5 36 60.
- George and Bush — Human Footmen created after Clinton; they help guard Dark Night Manor and later remain behind to protect it while Donald goes to war 7 60.
- Master Messer — Donald's mage teacher and an influential protector within the Mage Association 15 26 28.
