Background

Chen Xin is one of the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect's foremost protectors and has watched Ning Rongrong grow up alongside her father and Ancient Banyan. He and Ancient Banyan were entrusted with her protection; her disappearance deeply unsettles the sect and drives Chen Xin to search for her personally. He has lived for more than a century and is regarded as a pillar of the sect. 31 32 33

Chen Xin is an elderly yet imposing man who wears white robes and has long grayish-white hair. Even while standing still, his presence carries the oppressive force of a Level 96 Title Douluo. 30 31

Personality

Chen Xin is disciplined, perceptive, and protective to an extreme degree. His initial goal is to bring Ning Rongrong home, but he does not force an answer from her once he recognizes the strength of her attachment to Zhang Mo. Instead, he gives her time to make her own decision. 30 31

He judges Zhang Mo harshly but fairly. His three-strike trial is meant to determine whether Zhang Mo is worthy of Ning Rongrong's choice, not simply to punish him. After witnessing Zhang Mo endure the test and respect Rongrong's agency, Chen Xin acknowledges him. 32

Crisis Summon and Confrontation

The system identifies Chen Xin as its fourth Crisis Summon target and assigns Zhang Mo a mission to kill him. Chen Xin arrives ahead of schedule in Shanghai to retrieve Ning Rongrong. 27 29

Rather than immediately attacking Zhang Mo, he confronts Yang Wudi when the latter blocks his path. Chen Xin defeats Yang Wudi, breaks the Soul Breaking Spear, and gives Ning Rongrong three days to decide whether she will return to the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect. 30

Reunion and Zhang Mo's Trial

Chen Xin and Ning Rongrong reunite emotionally after he waits outside for her. He learns that Zhang Mo protected her from Shi Nian and Huyan Li, then realizes that Ning Rongrong has chosen to stay of her own will. 31

As a condition for allowing her to remain, Chen Xin orders Zhang Mo to receive three strikes from his sword. Zhang Mo survives sword intent, sword qi, and a restrained Seven Kill True Body strike, earning Chen Xin's acknowledgment. 32

Conflict with Ancient Banyan

When Ancient Banyan arrives to seek Ning Rongrong, Chen Xin initially clashes with him over having allowed her to remain on Blue Star. Their battle stops only after Ning Rongrong intervenes and Zhang Mo is injured while shielding her from Chen Xin's sword qi. 33

Chen Xin admits his mistake, recognizes Zhang Mo's willingness to risk his life for Rongrong, and formally approves of him. 33

Settling into Modern Life

After Ancient Banyan returns and accepts Zhang Mo, Chen Xin stays with the group. He acquires a phone to keep in contact with Ancient Banyan and joins Yang Wudi and Ancient Banyan in adapting to television and other aspects of modern life. 34
