It was unclear whether the Kingdom Army had failed to notice the disturbance at the harbor or something else, but the operation to transport the supplies went very smoothly. Before long, they had moved the entire batch back to the Revolutionary Army's gathering point in the border towns.
Once the supplies had been returned, the squad leaders of the Revolutionary Army's Guard Unit and Ghost Squad assembled in Bai Ina's former courtyard. Bai Ina sat at the head of the conference room, with Hijikata Yoshitoyo and Zongcilang seated on either side of him.
Zongcilang and Hijikata Yoshitoyo then ordered the squad leaders to give Bai Ina a complete report on the battles of the past half year.
"That's essentially the situation over the past six months. During the battles of the previous month, the allied armies of the various kingdoms attacked the border towns outside the eastern and southern gates. The sudden assault caused us heavy losses."
"That's right. And according to observations from our frontline scouts, the allied army is currently gathering in the border towns less than ten li away. Their numbers have now reached two hundred thousand."
"Those dogs must be starving!"
Bai Ina sneered at those words, then turned to Hijikata Yoshitoyo beside him. "Yoshitoyo, how many men do we have now?"
"The Guard Unit has eighty thousand, and the Ghost Squad has seventy thousand. Altogether, we have one hundred and fifty thousand men."
Hijikata Yoshitoyo replied softly. Yet as the exchange unfolded, realization flashed through the eyes of most of the squad leaders.
After all, most of those present had never seen Bai Ina's true appearance. Though they had heard rumors from colleagues who had met Commander Bai and knew that he was not very old...
But... thinking of the "White Asura," infamous throughout the
