Martial Souls

A Soul Master's Martial Soul is the foundation of their development. Martial Soul Possession circulates Soul Power and produces deeper bodily changes unique to the individual Martial Soul. 10

The conventional combat classifications are not regarded as a Martial Soul's true nature; they are development paths built upon the actual distinctions between Martial Souls. 23

• Beast Martial Souls strengthen the wielder's physique through Martial Soul Possession, giving them an early advantage in accommodating and circulating Soul Power. 23
• Tool Martial Souls attach Soul Power directly to the Martial Soul rather than distributing it through the body, granting an early advantage in Soul Skill output and Soul Power use. 23
• At seven rings, Martial Soul Avatars gradually reduce the physical-development gap between Beast and Tool Martial Souls. 23 148
• Body Martial Souls are treated differently by the Body Sect, which develops them through Secondary Awakening, bloodline cultivation, and personalized battle techniques. 51 81

Soul Rings and Soul Skills

Soul Rings are the conventional means by which Soul Masters break cultivation bottlenecks. The system binds a Soul Master's future to Soul Beasts from the first ring onward. 6

Combat Classifications

The six major combat types are commonly used to organize Soul Masters by battlefield role. 11

• Food Type, Support Type, and Defense Type Soul Masters are generally regarded as defense-oriented. 11
• These classifications become blurred when combat is dominated by long-range Soul Tools rather than a Soul Master's inherent abilities. 11

Cultivation Methods

Conventional Cultivation

Most Soul Masters cultivate by drawing external energy into their bodies through their Martial Souls, converting and storing it as Soul Power. 180

At each ten-rank bottleneck, further Soul Power can accumulate temporarily, but the Soul Master cannot fully advance without a new Soul Ring. Delaying ring acquisition also reduces cultivation efficiency and risks reaching the body's Soul Power saturation limit. 87

Soul Cores

A Soul Core is a stable, autonomous Soul Power circulation system. It reduces the need for conscious control and greatly improves endurance. 6

• Super Douluo normally condense Soul Cores through their superior cultivation. 6
• Soul Masters may establish their cultivation path from the Soul Sage stage and attempt Soul Core condensation earlier. 6

Soul Power Circuits

Soul Power Circuits are an alternative technique developed through analysis of Soul Skills and Soul Tool Core Arrays. They use the body as a carrier for constructed Soul Power routes. 16

• They can simulate certain Soul Skills or simple Soul Tool Core Array effects. 16
• Their practical ceiling depends on the Soul Master's body; forcing a circuit beyond that limit can damage meridians and cultivation foundations. 16
• Huo Yuhao's early circuits could reach approximately second-tier Soul Tool strength, while a third-tier structure would overload his body. 16
• Circuits may enhance movement, reaction speed, attack speed, flexibility, barriers, and other combat functions. 16 80
• Constructing circuits externally during battle is substantially slower than using pre-built circuits or ordinary Soul Skills. 16

Limitations

• Soul Masters conventionally cannot advance independently of Soul Beasts because Soul Rings are required to break bottlenecks. 6
• This dependency drives conflict: Soul Masters need rings to grow, while every Soul Beast ring requires a Soul Beast's death. 116
• The conventional route from Levels 1 to 9 rings ultimately fails at Level 100 without a God Ring; Divine Beasts needed to supply such a ring can only exist in the God Realm. 6
• Soul Rings that do not match a Martial Soul can introduce hidden dangers, especially at the Seventh Ring stage. 148

Reforms

Huo Yuhao identifies the Soul Master system as restrictive and seeks a path that does not depend entirely on Soul Rings or the God Realm's established order. 6 160

The cultivation method later promoted by the Douluo Council disperses Soul Power throughout the body to temper the flesh and refine Bloodline Power. Sufficient Bloodline Power then nourishes Spiritual Power, forming a self-sustaining cycle of growth. 186
