He had no idea until he tried. The moment he sensed it, Rix was completely stunned.
The hatred in his eyes was instantly replaced by sheer astonishment.
He now believed most of what Dende and Vegeta had told him.
After glancing at Trunks, he willingly released his ki.
By then, Trunks had finished measuring it.
He waved his arms around and cried out in amazement, "Whoa!"
"Uncle Tarble, Uncle Rix's battle power has reached five million!"
"Uncle Rix, did you hear that?"
"Your battle power has reached five million!"
"That's incredible! It's gone up tenfold!"
"Uncle Rix, did you hear that?"
The more he said, the more excited he became.
He was thrilled not only because Rix's strength had skyrocketed, but also because his father hadn't lied to him.
After recovering from mortal wounds, one really could rapidly increase one's strength!
Before taking the reading, his hand had been trembling.
Now, his whole body was trembling too.
His excitement and joy had replaced his earlier unease.
They'd only known each other for a little over a month, but he'd already grown very fond of Rix.
After all, Rix had let him experience what it was truly like to be a prince.
No naive young boy could resist the temptation of being a prince.
The number "five million" reached Rix's ears, and his eyes suddenly narrowed!
F-five million?!!!
He'd reached a battle power as unbelievable as something out of a fantasy, just like that?!
The next instant, he realized he'd wronged Vegeta.
But the other man had suddenly attacked and grievously wounded him. He'd even come close to dying.
There was no way he could simply forget that.
Saiyans weren't just battle-hungry; they also held grudges.
He still felt resentment, but Vegeta truly hadn't tried to kill him.
Otherwise, with the other man's battle power of over a hundred billion, Rix couldn't possibly have escaped with only those injuries.
He would have died on the spot, cleanly and swiftly.
For a moment, Rix opened his mouth as if to say something, but no words came out.
His feelings were complicated.
Seeing that Rix was no longer so hostile, Tarble seized the chance to say, "Rix, hurry and get used to your increased strength.
Then try to see if you can become a Super Saiyan, okay?"
Rix answered in a daze, "Okay."
Once he came to his senses, he looked up and saw the uncle and nephew standing before him, their eyes full of anticipation and eagerness.
In the end, he slowly nodded.
Whether it was Vegeta asking this Namekian named Dende to bring him back to life, or telling him everything he needed to know about becoming a Super Saiyan,
he owed them a debt of gratitude.
You could say he'd benefited from Tarble's connections.
Over the past month or so, he'd learned that Vegeta treated Tarble far better than he could ever treat a Saiyan who was barely acquainted with him.
But what was he supposed to do with all that anger inside him?
There was only one thing to do: turn his anger into motivation and try to become a Super Saiyan!
With that in mind, he began gathering all his energy into his back, letting out a series of furious roars.
"Aaaaaaaaaah!"
Boom!
An overwhelming surge of ki erupted in an instant!
Tarble, Dende, and Mr. Popo flashed away, putting some distance between themselves and Rix.
Trunks was far stronger than Rix in his base form, so he didn't actually need to move away.
But after seeing the three of them retreat, he followed suit, keeping his eyes fixed on Rix as he focused intently.
You can do it, Uncle Rix!
As Rix shouted again and again, his ki rapidly climbed.
Gales of ki swept out in every direction.
Lightning flashed and thunder rumbled above Kami's Lookout once more.
In less than five seconds, Rix's black hair began to shimmer gold, and golden flames of ki flickered around him.
Seeing this, Tarble smiled faintly.
A good sign!
Even if he failed this time, he'd probably succeed after a few more tries!
However.
The next second,
events took a turn Tarble hadn't expected.
Rix proved him wrong through his actions.
In an instant, Rix transformed completely into a Super Saiyan.
Tarble stared in astonishment.
But it wasn't over yet.
Less than two seconds after becoming a Super Saiyan, Rix was forced back into his normal form.
Not only that, but he dropped to his knees with a thud and panted heavily.
Beads of sweat, each as big as a bean, streamed down his face.
Seeing this, Tarble let out a quiet sigh of relief.
Now that was more like it!
If every Saiyan were a genius,
then why had their overall strength remained so weak after all these years of fighting across the universe?
Thinking this, he turned to Dende and asked, "Dende, could you help Rix recover his strength?"
Dende was just as stunned. Hearing the question, he immediately replied, "Oh, sure. No problem."
He hurried over to Rix and helped him recover his strength.
Before long,
Rix was back on his feet and thanked Dende gratefully:
"Thank you."
This Namekian had saved his life, so naturally, Rix wouldn't treat him coldly.
He'd lived on Guping's planet for so many years that most of the hostility in him had long since faded.
If Vegeta hadn't suddenly attacked and grievously wounded him, Rix would have been fairly mild-mannered.
He would never have flown into such a furious tirade as before.
As the saying went, like master, like subordinate.
His change in temperament was largely due to his original self, Tarble, as well as the environment he lived in.
"N-no need to thank me. Really, it's no trouble."
Seeing Rix suddenly return to his former self, Dende wasn't quite used to it and waved his hands repeatedly.
"Um, try again."
"I'll stay nearby and help you recover your strength."
Seeing how flustered he was, Rix smiled. "Okay. Thanks for that."
Dende gave him a gentle nod of encouragement. "You can do it."
Then, with a whoosh, he returned to Tarble and the others.
Seeing Rix get to his feet and prepare to try again, Tarble cautioned him, "Rix, don't rush it."
"Remember, when gathering your ki, start slowly, then build up speed!"
"If you're still angry, use this chance to let it out."
Rix was momentarily taken aback, then nodded firmly. "Yes, I understand, Your Highness."
He knew what Tarble meant by his anger.
In truth, he wasn't nearly as furious anymore.
After quickly steadying himself, he made a second attempt to become a Super Saiyan.
Following the transformation technique Vegeta had taught him, he concentrated his ki in his back.
Boom!
The skies above Kami's Lookout, which had been calm for less than a minute, were swept by another fierce storm of ki.
"Aaaaaah!"
His shouts of release echoed across all of Kami's Lookout.
Fortunately, Rix didn't use his ki to amplify his voice. Otherwise, half the Earth would have been affected.
But the sudden surge in his ki still shook heaven and earth.
