The first thing Reke saw was two groups of people aiming guns at each other. Led by the village chief, the local residents had taken cover far away.
Several corpses lay in pools of blood on the ground. The situation was clear at a glance.
The sound of Reke's footsteps alerted all three groups.
Both groups facing off assumed Reke was an ally of their opponents and glared at him menacingly. It was obvious these people were desperate criminals.
The villagers also stared at Reke in terror. They were already scared out of their wits. For people who normally never even got into fights, the events of today were far too much.
Only the village chief seemed to have been frightened by the two groups, but his expression never changed. Now and then, he glanced at them, a trace of murderous intent in his eyes.
"Heh! It's lively around here. How about telling me what happened?" Reke asked casually.
The leaders of the two groups exchanged glances. When they realized Reke wasn't with the other side, they breathed a sigh of relief.
They had no intention of answering him. Instead, they immediately opened fire.
"Pa! Pa!"
Reke reached out and caught the two bullets, then lost any desire to talk.
He formed two energy blasts and flung them at the two groups.
"Boom!"
Two huge craters were all that remained. Both groups had vanished completely.
"Ah!"
The villagers had never seen anything like this. They fled in all directions, while the village chief suppressed his fear, walked up to Reke's small figure, and fell to his knees.
Because he had some strength, he knew that if Reke wanted to kill them, they wouldn't stand a chance of resisting or escaping.
"My lord, please command us as you wish. I only ask that you spare these villagers."
Looking at the village chief and the villagers, Reke lost interest. Showing off in front of ordinary people wasn't what he was after.
He shook his head in disappointment. He no longer felt like wandering around outside. Without saying a word, he disappeared from the village.
Having made up his mind, Reke didn't waste any more time. Wrapped in a white aura, he flew home.
Pat and the others stood anxiously outside the Gravity Chamber. They had sensed a monster with a battle power of over ten thousand, about three thousand miles away, heading toward Panxi City.
After several months of training in the Gravity Chamber, Pat and the others had reached a battle power of over eight thousand, but that still wasn't enough to take on the monster outside.
Ever since Second reported the monster, the authorities had organized several teams to investigate and attack it. Unfortunately, not one person had returned. They had all been killed by the monster.
Because of their actions, the monster had moved in from more than ten thousand miles away. The authorities had organized an evacuation as soon as their efforts failed, but the monster was too fast.
At its current speed, half the population wouldn't have time to evacuate and would die in Panxi City.
As soon as they sensed the monster moving, Pat and the others had cleared out the Gravity Chamber, reserving it for Bellis and Lan Xin, who had long since surpassed them.
They hoped the two would increase their battle power as quickly as possible and destroy the monster.
The monster would arrive in just one day. They planned to see whether Bellis and Lan Xin stood a chance of defeating it.
If not, Pat was prepared to draw the monster's attention and see if he could lead it away.
Just then, the Gravity Chamber slowly opened. A man and a woman stepped out, walking steadily, their faces brimming with confidence.
Pat sensed their auras, but couldn't make out their precise strength. All he could tell was that they were unfathomably powerful.
"You two, Bellis and Lan Xin, you've sensed that monster too, right? Do you think you can handle it? If not, us old-timers will draw it away and buy you some more time."
Bellis and Lan Xin exchanged smiles. Bellis spoke up.
"Boss, leave it to us. Just make sure the victory feast is ready."
"Good, good! I promise you won't be disappointed." Pat clapped his hands and laughed.
As soon as Pat finished speaking, Bellis and Lan Xin, wrapped in white auras, flew off toward the monster.
Pat and the others watched them disappear, their faces full of relief.
"Boss, we really are getting old. Maybe it's time we thought about retiring," Second said, looking dejected.
"Heh, that's a good thing! Now you can get married and raise a family sooner," Pat replied, delighted.
Now that the younger generation had grown up, they could each go and take care of their own affairs.
"Second Brother, the boss is right. Aren't you tired of this after all these years?" Seventh teased.
The dozen or so of them laughed happily. Their laughter carried farther and farther, standing in stark contrast to the city engulfed in chaos.
What they didn't know was that someone was floating above them.
That figure had been hovering there for quite some time, and neither Pat's group nor Bellis and Lan Xin had noticed.
He wasn't angry that they had used the Gravity Chamber. Two years ago, it might have been a different story—Reke might even have killed them.
It could only be said that Reke had changed a lot over the past two years. He had come to regard Pat and the others as friends.
Of course, since they were his friends, Reke was even less inclined to interfere with them, just as he wasn't interfering now, with Bellis and Lan Xin going to face the monster.
Even if they were beaten to death, Reke wouldn't step in.
But after they died, he would avenge them. Don't think Reke was heartless; this was their own choice, and they had to bear the consequences.
Reke still wanted to see all the powerful fighters in the Dragon Ball world. He couldn't spend his entire life here protecting them. As for taking them to Earth, that wasn't realistic either.
Udrapa Planet was their home. Who would willingly leave their homeland?
Reke was different. In his previous life, he had been an Earthling. Even if it wasn't the same Earth, it could still offer him some comfort.
The Saiyans' homeworld had been destroyed long ago. In a way, Reke was a man without a home.
If he didn't know the truth about this world, Reke might have been content to stay here.
But both the memories in his mind and the blood flowing through his veins urged him to go to Earth.
Reke landed beside Lola.
Pat and the others were chatting away, and not one of them noticed him.
It wasn't until Uti came out of the house with tea that she spotted Reke.
"Reke, when did you get back? Have you eaten? Should I go prepare something for you?" Uti hurried over and asked happily.
"Sure, sure! Go get something ready. Just hearing you say that made me hungry." As if something had occurred to him, Reke began to drool and hurriedly replied.
"Reke, why aren't you saying anything?" Lola asked reproachfully.
"You all seemed to be having a good time. I didn't want to interrupt," Reke said with a shrug.
Pat and the others laughed happily too.
Suddenly, Pat sensed the auras of Bellis and Lan Xin fighting the monster. His expression changed, and he hurriedly said to Reke, "Reke, Bellis and Lan Xin are fighting the monster. Go help them!"
"No!" Reke shook his head and refused.
Silence fell. The laughter stopped all at once, and everyone stared at Reke in astonishment, as if they couldn't believe what they had heard.
