Chapter 25: The God King's Rebirth
Time had never made sense.
People could only watch it slip away second by second, unable to reclaim even one.
Farnos Province, Holy Soul Village.
Today was the annual Martial Soul Awakening Day. The Martial Soul Sub-Hall in Nuoding City would send deacons to the villages under its jurisdiction to conduct Martial Soul awakenings.
Village Chief Old Jack arrived at the entrance of a dilapidated blacksmith shop. Peering inside, he immediately spotted a burly but scruffy middle-aged man.
"Tang Hao, keeping busy?"
Tang Hao, who was hammering iron, raised his head and gave him a faint glance in acknowledgment.
Old Jack was not surprised by Tang Hao's manner and continued on his own. "I told you a few days ago that I'd be taking Xiao San for his Martial Soul awakening. You haven't forgotten, have you?"
Before Tang Hao could answer, Tang San stepped out from the side and said to Old Jack, "Grandpa Jack, Father already told me. Let's go."
Tang San followed Old Jack to the awakening hut in the village that represented Spirit Hall.
By then, a great many people were already waiting outside the hut. There were children of the proper age for awakening, as well as their parents, all eagerly awaiting the Spirit Hall deacon's awakening ceremony.
At Old Jack's signal, Tang San joined the line and began to wait.
After a while, seeing that everyone had arrived, Old Jack respectfully walked toward the hut and said to the young man inside, "Lord Deacon, all the children in the village are here."
The deacon gave a response, walked out of the hut, and came before the children. He arranged the items needed for the Martial Soul awakening, then looked at the crowd and spoke.
"My name is Su Yuntao, a twenty-sixth-rank Battle Soul Master. I'll be responsible for awakening your Martial Souls."
Amid the frightened gazes of the crowd, Su Yuntao underwent Martial Soul Possession and transformed into a wolfman.
Standing among the children, Tang San curiously watched the strange sight, growing ever more curious about his own Martial Soul.
Next, the children stepped before Su Yuntao one after another for their Martial Soul awakenings. Without exception, however, they awakened useless Martial Souls: Blue Silver Grass, hoes, and the like.
None of them possessed even a trace of Soul Power and could not become Spirit Masters.
Seeing this, the children whose awakenings had failed threw themselves into their parents' arms and sobbed quietly, while their parents wore equally dejected expressions.
Soon, it was Tang San's turn. Somewhat nervous, he stepped before Su Yuntao and took a deep breath, calming his racing heart.
The previous children had truly unsettled him. The odds of awakening Soul Power were simply too low.
But Tang San quickly thought of the Tang Sect Secret Arts, and his mind immediately settled. Even if he had no Martial Soul, he could still live safely in this world by relying on those secret arts alone.
Seeing that the child before him had a decent mindset, Su Yuntao could not help but say a few extra words.
"It's fine. It'll be over soon."
Soul Power spread from Su Yuntao's body, activating the Awakening Stones on the ground. A faint white glow rose and enveloped Tang San.
Tang San felt his body bathed in the warm glow of Soul Power, and it was immensely comfortable.
The inner strength within him, which had reached a bottleneck, began to circulate rapidly. It felt as though something was about to emerge from the deepest reaches of his bloodline.
But just as Tang San curiously imagined what his Martial Soul might be—
A streak of golden light emerged from the depths of his eyes and viciously pierced into Tang San's Sea of Consciousness.
"Ah!"
Tang San, in the midst of his Martial Soul awakening, suddenly cried out, clutching his head as he collapsed to the ground.
Su Yuntao, who was conducting the ceremony, and everyone present were startled. They hurried over to check on him.
Old Jack also looked anxiously at Su Yuntao, who had stopped moving, and urgently asked, "Lord Deacon, what happened to Xiao San?"
Hearing Old Jack's question, Su Yuntao wore a blank expression as well.
He had conducted Martial Soul awakenings for many years. The villages he had traveled through numbered at least eight hundred, if not a thousand, yet he had never encountered such a situation. He truly had no idea how to answer.
Just as everyone scratched their heads, at a loss for what to do, Tang San, who lay on the ground, opened his confused eyes.
"This place feels so familiar?"
Looking at the familiar yet somewhat unfamiliar surroundings, Tang San felt memories awakening from the depths of his mind.
"This is... Holy Soul Village? What exactly is going on? Wasn't I observing Huo Yuhao and Xiao Qi? Why am I seeing this scene?"
But before he could make sense of it all, Old Jack and Su Yuntao saw that Tang San had awakened and hurried forward to ask.
"Xiao San, how do you feel?"
"Little friend, are you all right?"
Tang San did not know what exactly was happening to him, but after being a God King for tens of thousands of years, he still possessed basic composure. Whether this was an illusion or something else, he would observe first and decide later.
Then Tang San rubbed his forehead and replied naturally, "I'm fine. Continue."
He had long since become a God King. How could he still call Old Jack grandpa? He should be grateful to have the title of God Soul Village. Wasn't that far more impressive than Holy Soul Village?
Only after Old Jack and Su Yuntao repeatedly confirmed that Tang San was truly fine did they let the matter rest.
Su Yuntao performed Tang San's Martial Soul awakening again, and this time, the process went very smoothly.
As he had in the past, Tang San raised his right hand and displayed Blue Silver Grass.
Su Yuntao had initially watched this unusual youth with high hopes, thinking that Tang San might bring him some surprise. He had not expected it to still be Blue Silver Grass.
With a disappointed sigh, he immediately began putting away his tools, preparing to head to the next village.
Tang San frowned slightly as he examined the Blue Silver Grass in his hand, then raised a hand to stop Su Yuntao, who was about to leave.
"I can feel that I have Soul Power. Please help me test it."
He found it difficult to determine the exact situation now, but he still did not intend to disrupt the original course of events.
He would respond to all changes by remaining unchanged.
Hearing this, Su Yuntao was about to rebuke him. How could Blue Silver Grass possess Soul Power? But after reconsidering, what if it did? After all, one's aura felt different depending on whether one possessed Soul Power.
It would not take much time anyway, and it would be better than overlooking someone.
With a trace of anticipation, he took out the Crystal Ball and tested Tang San's Soul Power.
At once, a deep blue radiance filled the Crystal Ball.
Innate Full Soul Power.
The sight left Su Yuntao dumbfounded. Over all these years, he had never even awakened someone with Innate Rank Three Soul Power, much less someone before him with Innate Full Soul Power.
But when he remembered that Tang San's Martial Soul was Blue Silver Grass, his spirits immediately deflated.
"Ah, what a pity. It's a useless Martial Soul."
Still, following procedure, Su Yuntao asked Tang San whether he wished to join Spirit Hall.
Tang San paid no mind to Su Yuntao's thoughts. As he had in the past, he refused Su Yuntao's invitation to join Spirit Hall and received the Martial Soul Awakening Certificate from him.
After bidding Old Jack farewell, Tang San frowned as he surveyed Holy Soul Village before him. There was not a single flaw. Every blade of grass and every tree was exactly as it had been back then.
No matter what this situation was, it was exceedingly bizarre for him, a God King.
With the thought of responding to all changes by remaining unchanged, he returned home.
Looking at Tang Hao, who was dispirited and reeked of alcohol, Tang San still told him about his Twin Martial Souls.
Seeing the Blue Silver Grass and Clear Sky Hammer in Tang San's hands, tears immediately streamed from Tang Hao's cloudy, lifeless eyes as he tightly embraced Tang San.
"Twin Martial Souls, they're actually Twin Martial Souls!"
"My son, my son!"
After holding him for a while, Tang Hao gathered himself. With reddened eyes, he said to Tang San, "Xiao San, you must use the hammer in your left hand to protect the grass in your right."
Looking at the father before him, Tang San silently agreed. Everything was exactly as it had been before.
That night.
Sitting cross-legged on the small bed in his room, Tang San finally had time to begin examining himself.
His consciousness sank into his Sea of Consciousness, and the soul essence of a God King began recalling the most terrifying scene buried in the deepest part of his memory.
The moment Tang San remembered that scene, he abruptly opened his eyes, which were filled with terror, cold sweat pouring down his entire body.
"So that's how it is!"
Chapter 26: Reverse Time Strike
It had been a streak of light, an arrow that brought destruction.
At the time, Tang San had been using the Central Hub in the God Realm to observe Huo Yuhao's taming and the flow of soul beast fortune on Douluo Continent.
He had been ready to make subtle adjustments at any moment, lest Huo Yuhao, guided by the plane consciousness of Douluo Planet, stray from the ending Tang San had envisioned.
But suddenly, the God Realm Hub transmitted a strange piece of information. At the extremely distant edge of the God Realm's territory, there was an incomprehensible fluctuation. It did not seem to be feedback from a god-level lifeform.
This immediately piqued Tang San's interest, as he had been rather bored.
Since it was not a living being, yet it could produce a fluctuation from such a vast distance that the God Realm Hub detected it, there was a high chance that some god-level or even God King-level treasure had been born.
After arriving in the God Realm for so many years, he had also learned many secrets of the universe. He knew that treasures could suddenly emerge within the Void Universe.
If undiscovered, after countless years of evolution, they could develop intelligence and possibly become innate Deities or God Kings.
The Life God King and the God King of Destruction broadly belonged to this category.
Having discovered this, Tang San did not inform the other four God Kings. He even used the Central Hub's authority to conceal the information.
After all, treasures of this kind were scarce resources in the God Realm. Most Deities did not even possess Divine Artifacts of their own.
It just so happened that the God King of Destruction had been with the Life God King these past few days and had no time to monitor him, giving Tang San an opportunity.
As for the newly appointed God Kings of Evil and Goodness, Tang San did not take them seriously.
After making all the preparations, Tang San directly separated a tenth of his divine soul and sent it over, intending to see what exactly it was.
If there was danger, then losing a tenth of his divine soul would not count as an excessively severe injury to his main body.
Through the God Realm's boundary teleportation, Tang San's divine soul quickly arrived in that empty cosmic starfield.
Under the probing of God King-level divine sense, all matter within nearly a light-year transmitted feedback, and he quickly discovered the anomaly.
