"I heard you call yourself the Emperor of the Universe?" Beerus asked with a smile.
Frieza trembled, pressing his head firmly against the ground. He didn't even dare breathe too loudly.
"Enough. It doesn't matter. It's just a title. If you want to be the Emperor of the Universe, then so be it." Beerus smiled faintly.
Seeing that Beerus had no intention of blaming him, Frieza finally let out a breath of relief.
"I came to ask you something. In this universe, besides you, who else might be even stronger?" Beerus asked.
Frieza froze for three seconds.
What did he mean?
Someone stronger than me?
"Hahaha, why, that would be you, Lord Beerus!" Frieza replied with an awkward laugh.
"I mean a mortal," Beerus said.
"A mortal..." Frieza froze again, unable to understand why Lord Beerus would ask such a thing.
"I may as well tell you. There's a new universe in need of a God of Destruction, so I'm looking for a suitable candidate to compete for the position." Beerus didn't intend to hide anything from Frieza, and briefly explained the situation.
After waking up this time, Beerus had found that Frieza had done a fairly good job.
Most of the planets Beerus had originally intended to destroy had already been destroyed by Frieza.
In other words, Frieza had done a lot of work for Beerus.
Although Beerus had once considered destroying Frieza,
he'd changed his mind now.
First, he'd find a suitable candidate to compete for the position of God of Destruction.
That was what mattered most.
"Compete to become the God of Destruction in the New Universe?" Frieza's eyes lit up, and he hurriedly asked, "Lord Beerus, do you think I'd be suitable?"
"You're not good enough!" Beerus shook his head.
Frieza: "..."
Frieza felt a stab in the heart.
But I'm the Emperor of the Universe.
How am I not good enough?
"There are many, many people in the other universes who are stronger than you, so we need to find a mortal who surpasses you," Beerus said thoughtfully. "I'll be honest with you. If you competed to become the God of Destruction, you'd only embarrass me."
Frieza sniffed, on the verge of tears.
Am I really that weak?
"Do you know anyone suitable? Think fast," Beerus urged.
"Uh, Lord Beerus, I actually do have someone in mind." Frieza thought for a moment and immediately came up with a candidate.
"Oh? Who?" Beerus asked.
"My older brother, Cooler!" Frieza answered at once.
"Your older brother?" Beerus rested his chin in his hand and pondered for a moment.
"My older brother Cooler has one more transformation than I do, and he's far stronger than me," Frieza replied.
Rather than giving the position to someone else,
why not give it to my brother?
Although I hate the way he does things,
he's still one of our kind.
If someone from our race could become a God of Destruction...
Frieza was already getting carried away with the idea.
If Cooler became the God of Destruction of the New Universe, then with him watching over me, I could pursue my dream in his universe.
My dream is to become the greatest merchant in this universe.
"Cooler, huh..." Beerus considered it, then ordered, "Have him come see me at once."
"Yes, Lord Beerus," Frieza replied respectfully.
Frieza then ordered one of his men to contact Cooler, saying there was something important and that he should come to Frieza's planet immediately.
It was about the God of Destruction.
As soon as Cooler received Frieza's message, he set off.
"Lord Beerus, Cooler's currently in the Eastern Universe. It'll probably take him twenty days to fly here..." Frieza hurriedly reported.
"Twenty days?" Beerus felt a little frustrated.
"That is quite a long time..." Whis sighed.
"Whis, why don't we go to him ourselves? By the time he gets here, it'll be too late," Beerus suggested.
"Certainly, Lord Beerus." Whis nodded.
"Then tell Cooler to wait where he is. We should be there in about ten minutes," Beerus ordered Frieza.
"Yes, Lord Beerus," Frieza replied respectfully.
Clack!
Whis lightly tapped the ground with the Staff in his hand.
Whoosh!
Whis and Beerus transformed into a dazzling streak of light, like a star, and quickly vanished into the Void.
Frieza looked up at the two who had disappeared, then hurried over to call Cooler.
"Cooler, you don't need to come here anymore," Frieza said.
"Frieza, what's going on? What's this about a God of Destruction? Can you explain it clearly?" Cooler asked.
"Cooler, you're in luck." Frieza snorted. "Lord Beerus said he's choosing a God of Destruction for the New Universe, and I recommended you for the position."
"Oh? Is that so?" Cooler had only gotten a vague idea of what was happening earlier, since Frieza hadn't explained it clearly.
Now that he'd heard the news, he was interested.
"Then why are you saying I shouldn't come?" Cooler asked in confusion. "Did you change your mind?"
"No. Lord Beerus thinks you're flying too slowly, so he's decided to come to you himself. Make sure you put on a good showing," Frieza explained.
"Understood." Cooler nodded. "If I become a God of Destruction, you'll be free to do as you please in my universe."
"Hmph, that's exactly what I wanted to say." Frieza smiled and nodded.
The two brothers looked at each other and smiled.
Whoosh!
Brilliant light blazed around Whis and Beerus as they sped toward the area where Cooler was.
"Whis, what have you been doing all this time? Don't you know whether there are any powerful mortals in our universe?" Beerus asked Whis.
"I really haven't been keeping track of that..." Whis shook his head.
Beerus: "..."
Whis really was unreliable.
As an Angel, couldn't he at least do a proper search?
"Do you think that Cooler can handle it?" Beerus asked, sounding unsure.
"Well... Let's see what he's like when we meet him," Whis replied.
"Damn it. If Universe 7 ends up at the bottom, we'll be a laughingstock," Beerus said through gritted teeth. "By the way, who's Universe 6 sending to compete for the position of God of Destruction?"
"I'll ask." Whis replied.
After saying that, Whis immediately contacted Vados through his Staff.
"Hello, Sister. It's been a long time." Whis greeted her with a smile.
"Whis, has Lord Beerus woken up?" Vados asked with a smile.
"Yes. I had to knock him awake... We can't neglect Grand Priest's instructions." Whis chuckled.
"That's right, that's right." Vados nodded.
Beerus: "..."
Whis, you really didn't have to be so honest.
Before you continue
