"Actually, it is not a major matter. The Grand Priest wishes to select suitable mortals from across the universes to compete for the position of God of Destruction for a new universe," Whis said.
"What? You call this not a major matter?" Beerus leaped up from his bed and hurried off to wash up.
Beerus let out another yawn, feeling as though he had not slept nearly enough.
"Continue," Beerus said to Whis while wiping his face with his paw.
"The chosen universe will be granted any wish through the Super Dragon Balls," Whis continued.
"Super Dragon Balls? I had heard rumors of their existence before, but I never expected it to be true," Beerus paused, dazed for two seconds, before asking, "A new universe? When did the Grand Priest create a new universe?"
"It must have been developed within these last few years," Whis mused.
"Which angel do you intend to send there?" Beerus asked.
"The preliminary choice is the apprentice angel Rose," Whis said.
"Rose? I haven't heard of her before... I have heard of Merus, though," Beerus patted his own head.
"Rose previously interned with my sister Vados in Universe 6 for a time, and later went to train in various other universes... It is only natural that you would not know her, Lord Beerus, as you were asleep during that period," Whis smiled slightly.
"Has the candidate for Supreme Kai been decided yet?" Beerus asked again.
"They will likely select the God of Destruction first, then determine the Supreme Kai," Whis speculated.
"Understood." By now, Beerus was fully awake; he changed into his God of Destruction attire and strode out of the castle, looking full of vigor.
Whis and the Oracle Fish followed behind him.
Upon seeing the sun outside the castle, Beerus could not help but yawn again and rub his eyes.
"Lord Beerus, are you still not fully awake?" the Oracle Fish sighed.
"Enough with the chatter. How do you think you would feel if you were suddenly knocked awake?" Beerus retorted irritably.
The Oracle Fish fell silent.
This guy's temper was getting worse and worse.
"Who should I choose?" Beerus rested his chin in his hand, deep in thought. "Whis, do you have any suitable candidates? The main issue is that I have been sleeping for years and do not have a deep enough understanding of our universe."
"Does Lord Beerus not have a subordinate who helps you with destruction?" Whis smiled. "He is known as the Emperor of the Universe, after all. Perhaps he has a better grasp of our universe than you do."
Beerus glanced at Whis.
You are quite interesting.
How could the Emperor of the Universe possibly know more about this universe than you do?
Still, it wouldn't hurt to ask Frieza.
"Very well, let us go see Frieza," Beerus said.
"As you wish, Lord Beerus," Whis nodded.
Beerus walked behind Whis and placed his hand on his back.
"Oracle Fish, watch the house well," Beerus instructed.
"Understood," the Oracle Fish nodded.
"Tap!"
Whis tapped his staff lightly against the ground.
A radiance as brilliant as the stars rapidly enveloped both Whis and Beerus.
"Whoosh!"
The two transformed into a streak of light, vanishing into the void in an instant, leaving no trace behind.
Frieza Planet No. 35.
On the spacious platform outside the royal palace.
Frieza was currently resting on this planet.
"Lord Frieza, according to reports from the front lines, that Saiyan prince named Vegeta has already rendezvoused with the Saiyans Nappa and Raditz," a subordinate stepped forward to report.
"Oh? And what of Vegeta's sidekick?" Frieza asked casually.
"That sidekick disappeared mysteriously; we do not know where he went," the subordinate wiped sweat from his brow vigorously.
"You say he disappeared?" Frieza narrowed his eyes at the subordinate.
The subordinate shivered.
"A large, fat cat appeared out of nowhere, and then this Saiyan named Lu Fan vanished along with it," the subordinate had no choice but to report truthfully.
"A large, fat cat?" Frieza tried to conjure an image of a fat cat in his mind.
It was a difficult thing to imagine.
However, Frieza had never really had much interest in Lu Fan to begin with.
In Frieza's eyes, Lu Fan was nothing more than a broken man.
Let him be.
"Vegeta is with those two Saiyans... this is getting interesting." Frieza said with a smile, "By the way, what is his current combat power?"
"Over these three and a half years... his combat power has barely increased at all; it's still 15,000." The underling replied hurriedly, "It seems to have gone up by about four or five hundred."
"Pfft..."
Frieza burst out laughing on the spot.
"Lord Frieza, he's a waste." Dodoria drifted a comment from the side.
Frieza's expression darkened, his triangular eyes narrowing slightly.
Dodoria immediately snapped back to reality and hurriedly knelt before Frieza.
"Lord Frieza, that's not what I meant! I meant that Vegeta is a waste!" Dodoria explained in a panic.
"Dodoria, you have made the same mistake twice now." Frieza's face was cold and grim.
"Yes... I, I, I... I am truly sorry, I will absolutely never do it again." Dodoria replied, trembling.
"Stay kneeling for a while longer and reflect on yourself properly." A hint of killing intent surfaced in Frieza's eyes, though in the end, he did not strike.
Frieza felt that Dodoria was still of use.
It would be a pity to kill such a convenient subordinate.
"Continue to monitor Vegeta's every move. If his combat power makes a significant leap, tell me immediately." Frieza commanded his underlings.
As he was speaking, Whis and Beerus descended from the sky, landing beside Frieza.
Frieza was stunned.
The many other underlings also widened their eyes, faces filled with shock.
Who were these two?
"All of you, get out of here." Frieza hurriedly waved his hand at his subordinates, "Without my permission, do not come within 300 meters."
"Yes!"
The underlings immediately departed the area.
Soon, on the vast platform, only Frieza, Whis, and Beerus remained.
"Lord Beerus..." Frieza hurriedly flew out of his hoverchair and knelt before Beerus.
Frieza felt a bit puzzled.
Didn't Lord Beerus say he was going to sleep for a very long time?
How did he wake up so soon?
It has only been three years.
Didn't you say you were going to sleep for over 40 years?
You woke up way too fast...
"Hmm, as I flew along the way, I noticed that you have indeed destroyed quite a few planets." Beerus patted Frieza on the shoulder, offering a word of praise.
Whis watched silently from the side, offering no opinion for the time being.
"This is what I ought to do, Lord Beerus." Frieza nodded quickly, then asked cautiously, "Is there something you need me for, Lord Beerus?"
