"Won't this arouse the suspicions of the survivors?" Berryblue asked.
"Ohohoho!" Frieza let out a series of strange, shrill, and grating laughs. "Isn't it enough to just say they were unfortunately struck by a massive meteorite?"
His laughter echoed through the spacious control room, carrying the playful cruelty of a cat toying with a mouse.
Just as they were speaking.
"Beep--"
The cabin door opened automatically, and a burly figure walked in from outside.
Dodoria, another of Frieza's confidants.
He had pink skin, a stout body, and his signature sinister grin plastered across his face.
He first bowed to Frieza, lowering his head respectfully.
"Is there something you need, Dodoria?" Frieza asked, eyes narrowed, his fingers tapping lightly against the armrest of his hoverchair.
"Lord Frieza, a spaceship just departed from Planet Vegeta. According to our investigation, it is Prince Vegeta and several combatants—eight people in total!" Dodoria reported hurriedly, his voice gruff. "One of them is even Vegeta's teacher, Reiz! He is known as a super-genius warrior!"
"Oh? Reiz? Eight people?" Frieza's eyes narrowed further, his expression turning somewhat unpleasant as the smile at the corners of his mouth faded. "A spherical ship left just a few days ago with a Saiyan infant whose power level was only 2, and now more people are leaving without authorization!"
His tone carried clear dissatisfaction.
Saiyans, those lowly monkeys, actually dared to pull tricks right under his nose.
"Lord Frieza, should I shoot them down?" Dodoria requested, a flash of bloodlust in his eyes.
"Besides Vegeta and Reiz, who else is there?" Frieza asked, his fingers stopping their tapping.
"There is also Raditz, Nappa, Carnegie, Kuri, Baru, and a female Saiyan, Linoshi!" Dodoria listed them one by one, reporting every name clearly.
"Berryblue, go prepare eight cards and write their names on them respectively." Frieza suddenly became interested, a strange smile reappearing on his face.
"Yes!" Berryblue looked at Frieza with suspicion, but she immediately turned to find cards to write the names.
Before long, she returned with eight exquisite cards, each with a name written in neat script.
Berryblue handed the eight cards to Frieza with both hands, bowing her head respectfully.
Frieza took the cards, looked at them one by one, and the smile at the corners of his mouth deepened.
Reiz, Vegeta, Nappa, Raditz, Carnegie, Kuri, Baru, Linoshi.
Eight names, eight lives.
Then, like shuffling a deck of poker cards, he skillfully mixed them in his hands.
The cards fluttered between his fingers, making a faint swishing sound.
"Snap!"
Frieza gave a casual flick, tossing the cards into the air.
The eight cards scattered in the air, drifting and falling slowly.
"Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh!"
The next moment, Frieza raised his right hand, and three dazzling beams of light flickered from his fingertips, firing instantly.
The three beams struck three cards with precision, blasting them into dust in mid-air.
Shredded paper drifted down like snowflakes, covering the floor.
The remaining five cards continued to fall, eventually landing softly on the floor of the spaceship, lying there silently.
Berryblue and Dodoria stood to the side, looking at Frieza in confusion, unable to understand what he was trying to do.
"Dodoria, kill everyone whose names are on those five cards!" Frieza issued the order.
Dodoria reacted instantly, hurrying forward to pick up the cards and examining them one by one.
His gaze swept over the names on the cards, muttering to himself.
"Who are they, Mr. Dodoria?" Berryblue asked curiously, craning her neck to get a better look.
"Reiz, Carnegie, Kuri, Baru, and Linoshi." Dodoria recited their names one by one, showing the cards to Berryblue.
"Ohohoho!" Frieza let out another series of strange laughs, the sound echoing through the control room. "It seems this little monkey Vegeta is among the three lucky ones!"
His eyes sparkled with amusement, as if all of this were merely an interesting game.
"Lord Frieza, should I go ahead and also..." Dodoria didn't finish his sentence, but the meaning behind his words was clear.
To emphasize this, he made a throat-slitting gesture, a cruel glint in his eyes.
"That won't be necessary." Frieza waved his hand, a brilliant smile on his face. "Since he is the lucky one chosen, let him live for now."
Dodoria said no more, bowed once more, and turned to stride out of the control room.
Not long after, a small spaceship detached from Frieza's mothership, its tail emitting a bright flame as it adjusted its course and quietly pursued the direction of Reiz and the others' ship.
The ship was entirely black, making it nearly impossible to detect in the starry sky; like a ghost, it slid silently into the vast sea of stars.
Reiz's spaceship.
Seeing that Frieza had no intention of launching a sneak attack on the Spaceship, the heart Reiz had been holding in his throat finally settled a little.
He took one last look at the massive warship growing smaller outside the window, then turned to look at Linoshi.
Linoshi was sitting on the small bed, her head bowed, saying nothing.
She sat there quietly, like a painting, beautiful to the point of being unreal.
"Do you want to go out for a walk?" Reiz turned his head to ask Linoshi, who was sitting on the small bed.
"Me? I won't go..." Linoshi shook her head, her blue eyes cast downward, not daring to look at him.
"Are you tired? If you're tired, just lie down on the bed for a while." Reiz smiled gently and took a few steps closer.
"I'm not tired..." Linoshi waved her hand lightly, though her fingers, clutching the hem of her battle suit, tightened slightly.
Just as they were speaking.
The Spaceship suddenly experienced a violent tremor.
"BOOM--"
Reiz lost his footing again, his body losing its balance, and he lunged directly toward Linoshi.
"Splat!"
This time, Reiz pinned Linoshi right onto the bed.
The narrow bed was just enough to accommodate two people; at this moment, Reiz was pressing his entire body against hers, their bodies fitting together in intimate proximity.
He could even feel her rapid heartbeat, transmitted through the thin battle suit—one, two, three.
Linoshi's face turned even more flushed, red as a burning sunset.
Those blue eyes darted around in a panic, too shy to know where to hide.
Her breathing was rapid and chaotic, her chest heaving violently, and her warm breath brushed softly against Reiz's face.
"This... I really didn't mean to." Reiz was speechless, bracing his body to try and get up, only to find the ship was still shaking slightly, making it impossible to stand steady.
He lowered his head, meeting those panicked, helpless blue eyes, and his heart softened.
