In the teaching building of Eastsea Academy's Intermediate Division, two men stood by a window, taking in the view below.
One was an elderly man around sixty, of average build, with graying hair and an air of scholarly refinement. The other looked more like the dean of studies at an ordinary school. These two were Eastsea Academy's dean and director.
Though calling it a view of the scenery below was somewhat inappropriate, because their gazes had never rested on the flowers or trees around them. They had been fixed on a brown-haired little girl on the training ground.
"That's Herta, the new student admitted this year? So she's such a pretty little girl!"
"Dean Yu, you really shouldn't treat her as an ordinary little girl. Quite a few students—even teachers—are completely helpless when it comes to her."
"Oh? How so?"
As the dean of Eastsea Academy, he had countless matters to attend to every day. It was impossible for him to keep track of student affairs at every moment, wasn't it? Otherwise, who would handle all the administrative work?
So most of these matters had been left to Director Long. He had heard that there had been plenty of feedback concerning her lately. It seemed Director Long had been quite busy recently.
But hearing Director Long's tone, Dean Yu perked up his ears, seemingly somewhat surprised by the director's attitude.
"Sigh! Here's what happened..."
With a sigh, Director Long finally told the dean everything that had happened recently. Besides helplessness toward this student, his tone carried an indescribable note of admiration.
"There's actually a student like that?"
A glint of golden light flashed through Dean Yu's eyes. Judging by his appearance alone, anyone would have assumed he was a kindly old man. Yet when the eyes behind his glasses were revealed, he instantly became a wise and shrewd elder.
"Outstanding learning ability, remarkable combat ability, and the daughter of a Saint Craftsman... She has displayed her talent in every aspect."
"This is the first time I've encountered such a genius. She's both an opportunity and a problem!"
Dean Yu quickly sorted through the pros and cons. A genius like this was clearly beyond what Eastsea Academy could accommodate. As dean, he understood very well that the academy's educational resources would struggle to support this student.
But if they simply recommended her to another academy, wouldn't that be a direct admission that Eastsea Academy's educational resources were inadequate?
"So what should we do?"
Director Long rubbed his forehead in distress. He had been the one handling matters related to Herta during this period, so he knew exactly how troublesome this little ancestor was.
She was the daughter of a Saint Craftsman and had connections with the Spirit Pagoda. One mishandled decision could cause problems for all of Eastsea Academy. After all, in the eyes of the Federation's upper ranks, Eastsea Academy was no match for either of them, much less a Saint Craftsman and the Spirit Pagoda combined.
"Indeed, at first glance, our current resources really aren't enough to teach this student. But don't forget that we still have a trump card in the Advanced Division!"
"You mean... Teacher Wu Zhangkong?"
"Who else could it be? He's our strongest expert, after all, and he came from Shrek Academy. If there's anyone in our academy who can guide Herta, I'm afraid it can only be Teacher Wu Zhangkong."
After hearing Dean Yu's words, Director Long's expression changed. He quickly considered the possibilities, but in the end, he still shook his head.
"With all due respect, Dean Yu. I think that even Teacher Wu Zhangkong would find it difficult to guide this student. She... is simply too special!"
"Director Long, I understand what you mean." Dean Yu sighed and spoke helplessly. "But you must also understand that sometimes, it's not about what others want. It's about what we have."
"For a top genius like Herta, it's not as though we can teach her whatever she wants to learn. What we have to offer right now is only Teacher Wu Zhangkong..."
Whether it was Director Long's imagination or not, he felt as though there was a faint trace of sadness in the dean's voice.
"Then what if even Teacher Wu Zhangkong can't guide Herta?" As if possessed, Director Long asked that question. He knew he should not casually say something so discouraging, yet he still wanted to know the answer.
"..." Dean Yu fell silent for a while, then smiled bitterly. "If even Teacher Wu can't guide her, then Eastsea Academy's future will be at an end!"
"Of course, that's the worst-case scenario. Perhaps the Federation won't make a move against us?"
At those words, Director Long understood. Who would place their own future in someone else's hands? Dean Yu's meaning was that he had no solution either; they could only leave it to fate.
"So, everything depends on Teacher Wu Zhangkong!"
A few days later, Herta received Eastsea Academy's official notice. But when she arrived at the classroom at the appointed time, she found that there was no one there.
Clearly, Teacher Wu Zhangkong would not arrive before class began.
"In that case, I'll cultivate for a while first..."
Herta closed her eyes. A flash of spiritual light passed across her forehead, and her entire being became lively and ethereal, as though she had merged with the surrounding environment.
Although she had received no guidance from any teacher during this period, Herta had never stopped developing her own abilities. The Wisdom was nowhere near as simple as it seemed. If not for the rules of this world, Herta could actually have done even more outrageous things.
What she was using now was merely an insignificant fraction of her many abilities.
As everyone knew, meditation was the only way for Soul Masters to independently increase their Soul Power, as well as their primary cultivation method. By guiding Soul Power through internal circulation, it promoted its growth. Tang San's Mysterious Heaven Skill was equivalent to advanced meditation, allowing Soul Power to circulate and grow more quickly.
All Soul Masters could meditate, while some outstanding Soul Masters could enter deep meditation, just as Huo Yuhao once had.
But there was a cultivation state even more advanced than meditation: Enlightenment!
Enlightenment usually occurred by chance. Though the probability was extremely low, the level of improvement it brought was clearly deeper than meditation. Any Soul Master who had experienced Enlightenment would gain at least one significant breakthrough.
Now look at Herta. With a higher starting point than others, she was also exceptional in comprehension. After developing her abilities during this period, she could enter a state of Enlightenment whenever she wished!
Or rather, the Enlightenment that others might struggle to encounter even once in their entire lives had somehow become a routine cultivation method for Herta, much like meditation... Calling her a monster was no longer enough!
Perhaps only a god could accomplish something like this...?
When Teacher Wu Zhangkong stepped into the classroom as the bell rang, the expression on his face changed noticeably when he saw Herta.
He seemed to understand why this student was so troublesome for the academy...
