At that moment, Bai Ye had successfully made the front pages of major American media websites, thanks to his looks and the boost from the bank robbery.
"Handsome, handsome, handsome, handsome, handsome! This is the true love I'll spend my whole life pursuing."
"Very nice photo. It made my eyes spin."
"Damn it, those damned robbers are actually doing this kind of captivity play. I'm so jealous!"
"Why are all of you looking at my husband?"
Though less than half an hour had passed since the incident, the websites had already drawn millions of viewers. The whole affair continued to snowball, attracting more and more attention.
After returning from outside the bank, Bai Ye's mood was utterly awful. Thinking back to the sea of people outside, he genuinely did not want to become famous at a time like this.
At most, Bai Ye had had the panel for less than a week. Right now, he might not even have been able to beat Captain America. He really did not want to stand openly beneath the spotlight.
Yet reality refused to go his way. Someone had written a ridiculous script for him, not even giving him time to grow before throwing him into something this huge.
Seeing Bai Ye return, the four robbers who had been aiming at him from behind gathered around him, all pleased with his performance.
"You've got some guts. You weren't scared at all." The Robber Leader looked at Bai Ye and asked, "And that suitcase you brought—there's so much cash inside, plus a golden ball. How does a student like you have something like that?"
"I found it. If there's nothing else, I'm going back," Bai Ye replied dismissively, constantly warning himself to endure it.
Suppressing the killing intent rising within him, Bai Ye ignored the robbers before him and tried to return to the crowd. But one robber stepped in front of him.
"What kind of attitude is that? You're a hostage, and you dare talk to us like that? Think we're giving you face?" One of the robbers stood before Bai Ye with a look of contempt. "With a face like yours, let your big brothers have some fun first."
As he spoke, he raised his filthy hand to touch Bai Ye's cheek, only for Bai Ye to seize it before it could make contact.
"Heh, you dare resist?" The robber tried to pull his hand free, intending to beat the pretty boy in front of him senseless. But when he looked up, he met a cold gaze filled with killing intent.
With a soft sound by his ear, a searing pain erupted in his chest, and warm liquid burst from his torso.
"Do you know how long I've been putting up with you idiots?" Bai Ye pulled his right hand out of the robber's chest and disgustedly flicked the crimson liquid from it onto the floor.
The sudden turn of events left everyone in the hall, including the robbers, stunned.
But Bai Ye, having already made his move, had no intention of wasting words on them. Looking at the four robbers surrounding him, his right hand became a blur as he threw Three Punches in half a second, every blow aimed directly at their faces.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Three dull impacts mixed with the sound of shattering bone rang out. The faces of the three robbers before him looked as though they had been struck by heavy artillery, and the terrifying force blasted them four or five meters away.
As their bodies slammed heavily onto the ground, wounds resembling those left by large-caliber rifles could be seen on their faces. Their entire faces had caved in under the immense force.
Bai Ye's fists had shattered their skulls. Under the tremendous pressure, pinkish-white pulp mixed with blood squeezed out from their seven orifices.
Only then did the robber whose heart Bai Ye had ripped out collapse to his knees, his legs giving way.
In the blink of an eye, four of the seven gunmen had fallen at Bai Ye's hands.
One with his heart pierced, three with shattered skulls!
"You brain-dead idiots, not one of you is leaving here alive today," Bai Ye said through gritted teeth.
The two robbers nearby finally came to their senses. Looking at their dead comrades, they aimed their Submachine Guns at Bai Ye and rapidly pulled the triggers.
Bai Ye had noticed their movements before that. His right foot stomped down hard.
Boom!
Everyone felt a slight tremor beneath their feet. The beige tiles under Bai Ye's foot cracked inch by inch. In a single second, he went from a standing start to full acceleration, his body shooting forward like a nimble serpent for eight or nine meters.
Rat-a-tat-tat!
A stream of bullets chased Bai Ye's vanished figure, continuously striking the wall behind him and leaving crater after crater.
Three seconds later, the submachine guns' magazines had run dry. Before the two men could reload or draw their sidearms, that terrifying figure, blood still dripping from his hand, was already standing before one of them.
Bai Ye looked at the robber trying to retreat, raised his right hand high, and chopped down like a massive axe. Starting from the shoulder blade, he tore the man—bones, organs, muscles, skin, and all—cleanly into two halves with unstoppable force.
In an instant, a flower of blood bloomed in the bank lobby. Bai Ye slightly turned his head and fixed his eyes on the Robber Leader, the last robber still capable of moving.
Looking at the man covered in red and black, the Robber Leader felt as though he had been targeted by a prehistoric tyrannosaur, even though Bai Ye was merely looking at him.
As Bai Ye advanced step by step, cold sweat seeped down the Robber Leader's back. He raised his pistol at Bai Ye's forehead and fired three times in succession, but Bai Ye easily evaded every shot with a tilt of his head.
Bai Ye's physical abilities had now surpassed human limits. With 1.5 Spirit, he could simulate the bullet trajectory of the pistol before him in his mind.
And with 1.7 Strength, he could dodge within the second before the other man's bullets left the barrel.
After the leader fired every bullet in his pistol, Bai Ye had already reached him. Grabbing the robber by the collar, he swung a massive slap across his face.
"Tell me, if you don't have what it takes, why rob a bank? What do you think robbing a bank is, bastard?"
Bai Ye repeatedly slapped the robber's face with his right hand, producing dull banging sounds. As he slapped him, he berated him in exasperation, "Is robbing a bank fun? Do you think this is playing house? Putting on some Qiong Yao melodrama in front of me, and you can't even rob a teller counter properly."
Though Bai Ye had held back, the leader still felt as if a giant bear were slapping him. His thoughts soon became disjointed, and under Bai Ye's Great Memory Restoration Technique, he was slapped to death alive.
After finishing off that robber, Bai Ye impatiently straightened his shirt, now dyed crimson with blood.
Looking at the flowers of blood splattered throughout the hall, Bai Ye's heart remained utterly calm despite this being the first time his hands had been stained with blood. During his years in the underworld, he had seen such things often enough and had long been mentally prepared.
Bai Ye walked to a corner, retrieved his suitcase from the pile of looted cash, then turned and slowly walked toward the bound hostages.
Seeing Bai Ye approach—especially with blood still staining his fair face—they all shrank back in fright.
Bai Ye walked over to the customer service representative, bent down, and unhurriedly untied the ropes binding her.
Under the customer service representative's confused gaze, he pushed his suitcase toward her and smiled. "Open an anonymous account. For laundering."
