"Boom! Boom! Boom!"
Throughout New York City, dull blasts like exploding artillery shells echoed through the streets.
Countless vampires roared as they charged at Bai Ye, but to him now, they were simply far too slow.
Looking at the overlapping figures before him, Bai Ye wasted no words. He threw a punch, striking a vampire directly in the skull.
As a cloud of blood burst into the air, the lead vampire's head exploded in an instant.
Fragments of shattered skull sprayed everywhere, and the force, comparable to a high-pressure water cannon, sent all the vampires blocking the way ahead flying.
He casually grabbed the wrist of a vampire behind him, clenched it, and swung.
The terrifying inertia easily tore the vampire's arm apart, flinging its body forward and knocking down a large group.
Before the vampires behind him could rush forward, every muscle in Bai Ye's body tensed as he gave a light leap.
As blood exploded in all directions, Bai Ye's body, harder than steel, directly smashed through more than a dozen vampires and reached another part of the battlefield.
Although these vampires possessed impressive regenerative abilities, they still could not withstand having their heads smashed into pulp or their hearts crushed into meat patties.
Even without any weapons specifically meant to counter them, Bai Ye relied on a pair of iron fists harder than steel to brutally kill one vampire after another, leaving them in pieces.
This wanton slaughter was not even as intense as his usual training. On average, one punch was enough to kill a vampire. It would not take three thousand punches to wipe them all out.
If I keep fighting like this, won't they make me pay for the damages afterward? Even amid the slaughter, Bai Ye still had enough room to mock himself internally.
As he fought, he also observed the vampires' expressions. In the end, he discovered that these creatures had no reason left at all. They did not shrink back in the slightest because of their companions' deaths; they possessed only the desire to attack him.
Casually splitting a vampire in half, then raising his foot to kick another vampire's head apart, Bai Ye asked, "How about we talk? Why are you targeting me like this?"
With a wave of his hand, he cut off another vampire's head and said again, "If you have any demands, just say so. If we keep fighting, I'll kill every last one of you."
During the battle, one headless or heartless body after another was sent flying like a rag doll by Bai Ye, before dropping helplessly to the ground.
At S.H.I.E.L.D., Nick Fury watched the scene through the surveillance feeds and could not help but be astonished. The man's combat speed was so fast that even the cameras had difficulty capturing it.
"Director, do we still need to notify Professor X to clean up the aftermath?" Coulson asked from beside him.
"No, there's no need now." Nick Fury stared fixedly at the figure on the monitor and muttered:
"Is this guy a mutant? Or a superhuman?"
In his assessment, Bai Ye's strength, speed, and defensive power did not seem particularly outstanding when considered individually.
What was terrifying was that he had no weaknesses whatsoever. In terms of physical ability, he was practically a hexagonal warrior, more threatening than some Level Four mutants.
Even among Level Five mutants, most were only exceptional in a single trait. If caught unprepared, they could still be killed by bullets.
"Have you found his information?" Nick Fury looked at Coulson.
"Director, according to our records, this youth is named Bai Ye. He's a Chinese American and currently attends Midtown High School in New York. His past is not exactly clean. He was involved with gangs, and there are seven or eight robbery cases that can reasonably be suspected to be connected to him."
With S.H.I.E.L.D.'s formidable investigative capabilities, Bai Ye's background was quickly uncovered completely.
Coulson frowned as he looked at Bai Ye's file on the computer. "It can be confirmed that this youth has extremely strong criminal tendencies... no, he has already committed crimes. Personally, I don't recommend bringing him in."
After expressionlessly flipping through the documents before him, Nick Fury said, "Seal all of his records for now. Only agents Level Nine and above may access them."
Coulson froze for a moment, then quietly answered, "Yes," and began sealing all of Bai Ye's information.
Watching Bai Ye slaughter in every direction on the monitor, Nick Fury lightly tapped the desk before him, countless thoughts running through his mind.
After a long while, he finally said, "Do this. Have some agents take a group of reporters to interview them. Steer the narrative a little—don't let public opinion get too out of control. I'll go ask for the higher-ups' stance."
Coulson nodded to show that he understood.
That night, it was not only S.H.I.E.L.D. that was watching this place. Countless other forces had their eyes on it as well.
At Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters, a bald man in a wheelchair directly locked onto this block with his powerful psychic abilities.
Meanwhile, in a base somewhere on the outskirts of New York State, an elderly man wearing a metal helmet watched the fighting figure on the screen with an appreciative expression.
Five minutes later, Bai Ye stood expressionlessly where he was. The air was thick with the stench of blood, and every inch of the surrounding ground had been dyed red—yet he remained completely spotless.
The powerful air currents created by his body tearing through the air automatically blew away most of the blood.
What remained was blocked by the seventy years of Purple Mist Divine Skill inner energy surging through his body. No trace of blood could get near him at all.
With the support of his inner energy, even Bai Ye's outer clothes had not suffered the slightest damage. They remained as white as before.
Looking at the blood stench filling the streets and the furtive gazes of the people hiding nearby, Bai Ye lightly crushed the last vampire's head in his hand and turned to leave.
He knew that after tonight, a bloody storm of public opinion would be waiting for him.
But just as he lifted his foot, a jeep blocked his path. The door opened, and an elderly man in military uniform stepped out.
"Is there something you need?" Bai Ye asked.
As he spoke, he noticed the nameplate on the old man's uniform: Thaddeus E. Ross, the officer from the movies who had chased Hulk relentlessly.
"Kid, you did me a huge favor. If you need anything in the future, come find me." Ross looked at Bai Ye and spoke with a solemn expression.
That was indeed true. Military losses were one thing, but if those thousands of vampires had truly scattered through the city and caused massive casualties, he would have had to resign at light speed that very day to take responsibility.
After saying that, Ross handed over his business card. "Call this number if anything comes up."
"Uh..." Bai Ye wordlessly took the card. He had thought the old man had come looking for trouble.
Seeing Bai Ye accept the card, Ross waved his hand. "I won't disturb you any further. Remember to present yourself well in front of the media. I'll treat you to dinner this weekend."
"The media?" Bai Ye asked in confusion. Countless cars were already approaching, and as they stopped in front of him, microphones were thrust directly into his face.
