Proactive Attack

Inside the main hall of the Elder Tower, Medusa and Zi Yan sat upon their chairs.

Qing Lin served them both tea before taking a seat herself.

The three of them wore inscrutable expressions, though their gazes drifted, intentionally or otherwise, toward Xiao Ze's room.

The door remained tightly shut. Given their keen senses, they could detect absolutely nothing from within; it was clear that Xiao Ze had deliberately shielded the room.

Though they could not perceive what was happening inside, the three of them were well aware that Xiao Ze and Xun Er were alone together in that room.

Zi Yan leaned back in her chair, her purple-gold eyes flickering with a hint of curiosity as she looked toward Medusa.

"Come to think of it, Medusa, the way you and Xun Er reunited seems a bit off, doesn't it?"

Medusa's gaze flickered away at the remark, though she quickly regained her composure.

"There is nothing off about it. It is simply that we have not seen each other for a long time."

Medusa spoke in a flat tone.

However, Zi Yan was clearly unsatisfied with such a perfunctory response, her eyes fixed firmly on Medusa's face.

Medusa did not back down, meeting Zi Yan's stare head-on.

Sitting on the other side, Qing Lin watched Medusa and Zi Yan with trepidation.

She prayed silently that the two would not come into conflict, for with her own strength, she would be completely unable to intervene.

Sensing the atmosphere growing heavy, Qing Lin parted her pink lips, about to say something.
