Background / History

Qing Lin grew up facing severe prejudice because of her mixed heritage. Apart from her mother, she had never been treated gently; others avoided, insulted, and bullied her for the green scales on her arm. Xiao Ze finds her being bullied in Stone Desert City, heals her injuries, and accepts her without fear or disgust. He then takes her to the Desert Iron Mercenary Group, where she leads him to Xiao Ding and Xiao Li. 123

After being assigned to serve Xiao Ze, Qing Lin admits that she has never cultivated because she believed a servant had no right to hope for it. Xiao Ze makes her his personal maid so that she can remain by his side and teaches her to cultivate. Her early training is overseen in part by Xiao Yi Xian while Xiao Ze handles the Xiao Clan's affairs. 124 126

Xiao Ze later brings Qing Lin to Jia Nan Academy and awakens her Triple Jade-Green Snake Flower Pupils through a snake-type magical beast contract. Qing Lin is initially timid, self-deprecating, and deeply sensitive to rejection. She repeatedly refers to herself as a mere servant or “lowly snake-human hybrid,” fearing that even Xiao Ze will be repulsed by her heritage.
