That gold coin sat inside a rectangular transparent crystal case on the desk in the Dragon Emperor's study. It seemed to be merely a decorative object on the desk; because it was somewhat unusual, it had been placed inside a crystal case.
Zhang Tie was all too familiar with that gold coin, because it was one of Great Xia's most common standard gold coins, officially authorized by Great Xia and minted by Pangu Bank. On the front of the coin was the lifelike, exquisitely detailed image of Rat Bridge, one of the Twelve Zodiac Bridge spanning Golden Water River in Xuanyuan Hill. On its reverse was a blooming peony design, along with the four words "Pangu Bank."
In Hua Clan culture, rats gathered wealth, while the waters of Golden Water River also symbolized riches. Peonies blooming brought prosperity and honor—such was the meaning behind the images on this coin.
There were more than a hundred varieties of standard gold coins circulating in Great Xia, and this was merely one of them. Zhang Tie had piles of identical coins in Castle of Black Iron.
This was absolutely not some spur-of-the-moment imitation made by someone in the Sky-Piercing Realm, because there was no gold ore anywhere in the entire Sky-Piercing Realm. The several items used as currency here were special metal crystals unique to this world, all of which Zhang Tie had never seen before. Currency made from these metal crystals was called crystal coins.
Zhang Tie was shocked, but nothing showed on his face.
Zhang Tie picked up the crystal case from the desk, deliberately examined it with curiosity, then asked Hong Yukun, who was holding several ledgers of items beside him, "What is this? How come I've never seen it before?"
"I don't know either!" Hong Yukun shook his head.
