Even with everything simplified during the Holy War, Xuanyuan Zhu's enthronement ceremony still lasted a full three days, beginning in the early hours of February 14 and not concluding until the evening of February 16.
On February 14, accompanied by a number of Great Xia Imperial Family clansmen, Xuanyuan Zhu offered sacrifices to Heaven and Earth within the Round Mound Altar of the Great Emperor Palace.
On February 15, once the sacrificial rites were complete, the Three Excellencies and Nine Ministers led the civil and military officials of the court to the Round Mound Altar to receive him, saying, "The sacrificial rites are complete. We invite Your Highness to ascend the imperial throne." Xuanyuan Zhu then bid farewell to his imperial clansmen and was escorted by the court's civil and military officials to Heaven's Heart Gate of the Great Emperor Palace. Great Xia's princes, dukes, meritorious nobles, and high officials awaited at Heaven's Heart Gate. At its entrance stood a golden table, upon which lay the Son of Heaven's ceremonial robes and precious crown. When Xuanyuan Zhu arrived, the Great Xia nobles respectfully invited in unison, "Please don the Son of Heaven's crown and robes." Xuanyuan Zhu stepped before the golden chair, where ritual officers dressed him in the ceremonial robes. He then bent forward, and Zhang Tie placed the Son of Heaven's precious crown upon his head. Zhang Tie then took Xuanyuan Zhu by the hand, and amid the escort of the court's civil and military officials and nobles, they proceeded from Heaven's Heart Gate along the Imperial Way all the way to the Nine Extremes Grand Hall.
