Yong Province, one of Great Xia's thirty-six upper provinces, bordered the Great Xia Northeast Protectorate and lay to its south, adjoining Qiong Province under the Northeast Protectorate. It was a major province under the West River Protectorate and also the seat of the West River Protectorate's central administration.
Yong Province covered 410 million square kilometers and had a total population of 8.7 billion. After hundreds of years of peace and prosperity, it was flourishing beyond compare. Yong Province possessed 257 Class-A cities—a number that placed it above the middle rank even among Great Xia's upper provinces.
Yong Province had thirty-four commanderies. Deerfield Commandery lay in the southwest of Yong Province and contained many famous mountains known as the Nine Peaks of Deerfield. The mountains produced abundant tea, and Deerfield tea was one of Yong Province's finest. The most renowned of them, Wild Spring, came from Floating Spirit Mountain, one of Deerfield Commandery's Nine Peaks.
Coiling Dragon Mountain lay in the center of Deerfield Commandery and was also one of its Nine Peaks. It stretched for over ten thousand kilometers, cutting across the lands of several commanderies. Because it resembled a coiled dragon, it had earned its name.
Coiling Dragon Mountain was not only wondrous, but beautiful as well. Legend held that its feng shui was exceptionally auspicious and that it was one of Yong Province's dragon veins. Thus, in the east, west, south, and north around the mountain, pressed tightly against it within Yong Province, stood six Class-A cities: Love Lotus City, Brilliant Light City, Law Forest City, Amber Silver City, Heavenly Abyss City, and Cloud Marsh City.
