Bai Suxian is the daughter of the Prince of Guangnan and a commandery princess of one of Great Xia's foremost princely houses. She left Prince of Guangnan's Mansion after her former closest friend, Fang Xinyi, became involved with her father; Bai Suxian believed Fang intended to become her stepmother. The resulting conflict estranged Bai Suxian from her father and drove her to live independently. 997

Before meeting Zhang Tie, Bai Suxian also suffered a painful romantic betrayal: a man courted her for the status and influence of her family rather than genuine affection.
