Creating a Meditation Method

After the two exchanged cultivation insights for a while, it was already past five. Downstairs, Kamiya Koromo had started cooking.

There was naturally no way to cultivate now, so the two simply went downstairs and waited for dinner.

Past six, Kamiya Hiromi returned as well, reeking of alcohol and dead drunk.

"Honey, you..." Kamiya Koromo's expression darkened. "Are you eating?"

"I already ate. You eat by yourselves!" Kamiya Hiromi waved them off and went to sleep on his own.

Kamiya Koromo sighed and called the two children over to eat.

The siblings ate happily, mainly because Kamiya Hiromi was not around.

After dinner, the two returned to Kamiya Keiyun's room.

"This room is a little too small. Let's clean up the vacant room next door. We can cultivate in there later," Kamiya Keiyun said.

There was only one bed here, after all, and it felt a little strange.

"Okay. You have school tomorrow, so I'll clean it up. It'll be ready by the time you come back!" Kamiya Sanyō said.

First: calm the mind and steady the breath.

Third: strengthen spiritual energy.

Kamiya Keiyun believed that since spiritual energy existed in this world, there should also be methods to cultivate it—the Meditation Method!

However, he had been born a commoner and had no such method. He did not know whether the school taught it, but it did not matter even if it did not. He could simply create one himself!

Nor was he completely without a foundation. The Classic of Purity and Tranquility from Taoism was a Meditation Method, though much of it might have been lost due to history and war.

Moreover, all sorts of novels mentioned Visualization Methods alongside Meditation Methods. Visualization Methods and Meditation Methods had always gone hand in hand, such as the Nuwa Visualization Method and the Pagoda Visualization Method.

Kamiya Keiyun could use the Classic of Purity and Tranquility as a foundation, then combine it with a Visualization Method to create a Meditation Method.

Generally speaking, the thing one visualized should possess immense divine powers. For instance, if one visualized Nuwa, one could receive the blessing of Nuwa's power.

But Kamiya Keiyun did not have a portrait of Nuwa. This world's protagonist was Gundam, yet Gundam had not even been created!

However, he possessed something else: the World Lotus!

The World Lotus was the lotus that bloomed when the World Seed opened. Since it was a flower that had absorbed the power of the world to bloom and could carry a World Secret Treasure, Kamiya Keiyun believed it had to possess extraordinary abilities.

Furthermore, whether in Taoism or Buddhism, lotuses held an exceptional status. Even when Pangu Creates the Heavens, Pangu had stood upon a lotus.

Therefore, visualizing this lotus would definitely work!

There was also one crucial point: the World Lotus did not belong to this world. Thus, without his permission, no one else would be able to learn this method in the future.

Its secrecy was exceptionally strong!

He closed his eyes and began silently reciting in his heart.

The Great Dao is formless, giving birth to Heaven and Earth; the Great Dao is without emotion, setting the sun and moon in motion; the Great Dao is nameless, nurturing all things. I do not know its name, so I reluctantly call it the Dao. The Dao has clarity and turbidity, movement and stillness; Heaven is clear and Earth is turbid, Heaven moves and Earth is still; men are clear and women are turbid, men move and women are still. Root descends into branch, and thus all things are born. Clarity is the source of turbidity, movement is the foundation of stillness. If people can remain ever pure and tranquil, Heaven and Earth shall all return.

The human spirit loves purity, yet the heart disturbs it; people's hearts love stillness, yet desires pull them astray. If one can always cast away desire, the heart will naturally become still; clarify the heart, and the spirit will naturally become pure. Then the six desires shall not arise, and the three poisons shall vanish. Those unable to do so have hearts yet uncleared and desires yet uncast away. Those who can cast them away: inwardly observe the heart, and there is no heart in the heart; outwardly observe the form, and there is no form in the form; observe things from afar, and there are no things in things. Once these three are understood, only emptiness remains. Observe emptiness, and it too is empty; when emptiness has nothing to empty, even nonexistence is absent. When even nonexistence is absent, there is serene and constant stillness. In stillness there is nothing to be still, so how could desire arise? Once desire does not arise, that is true stillness. True constancy responds to things, and true constancy attains one's nature; ever responsive and ever still, one is ever pure and tranquil. Through such purity and tranquility, one gradually enters the true Dao; having entered the true Dao, one is said to have attained the Dao. Though it is called attaining the Dao, in truth nothing is attained; it is only to transform sentient beings that it is called attaining the Dao. Those who can comprehend this may receive the sacred Dao.

As he recited silently, he did his utmost to construct a lotus within his mind.

This differed from his earlier visualization. Chakra had been a tangible thing, so his visualization had a definite object. He only needed to shape it.

But now, he did not even know whether a meditation world existed, nor did he know whether his visualization could succeed. All he could do was believe in Heaven Rewards Diligence.

He did not notice that the Classic of Purity and Tranquility, which he had initially been reciting dryly, gradually took on a special cadence. In that pitch-black spiritual world, a lotus of chaotic color, tinged with red and white, slowly began to emerge.

An aura of purity, tranquility, naturalness, ethereality, and all-encompassing vastness began to radiate from Kamiya Keiyun, growing from nothing, from weak to strong.

Beside him, Kamiya Sanyō had already grown somewhat restless. She had long mastered the ability to instantly extract Chakra after forming Hand Seals, but she still could not produce Chakra without them.

She had been trying all afternoon!

Yet when she thought about how this concerned the excitement of her own future, she gritted her teeth and persisted!

Suddenly, a serene aura drifted over from Kamiya Keiyun beside her. For some reason, her heart immediately calmed.

Then, with a thought, Chakra smoothly formed within her body, without the slightest obstruction!

I succeeded!

After working at it all afternoon, Sanyō should have been incredibly excited. Yet now, she found her emotions remarkably calm.

Like an outsider, she watched her Chakra, sensing its changes, its movement, and its dissipation as it turned into two streams of energy before merging back into her body.

Opening her eyes, Sanyō looked curiously at her younger brother with her beautiful eyes. She silently rose and moved farther away. The moment she seemed to cross some invisible boundary, the excitement that had been suppressed within her immediately surged forth. She even wanted to hug her brother and share the joy of her success with him.

But when she took another step forward, she felt that her achievement just now was not such a big deal after all, and that she ought to maintain an ordinary heart.

"Th-this, little brother, is it because of you?" Sanyō marvelled at the change. Clearly, this shift in her feelings had come from her younger brother, Keiyun.

"Is this the charm of ninjutsu? It's practically like a god! Perhaps even more than a god..." Sanyō was startled. That kind of thought is simply blasphemous.

I am Inari's most loyal Miko. How could I have such a thought that desecrates the gods?

Yet Sanyō could not help recalling what Keiyun had once said.

There had never been any savior, nor could they rely on gods or emperors.

Inari could not change my future, but Keiyun could!

Then she thought of all the incredible things about Keiyun.

Could he be some god who descended into this world?

Sanyō sat upright, propped her chin on her hand, and curiously watched her younger brother. Who could it be?

Takemikazuchi?
