Origin and History

The Chronicles of the Rabbit Goddess places Chakra’s transmission roughly a thousand years before Keiyun’s academy studies. It describes Otsutsuki Kaguya eating a holy fruit from a divine tree, gaining immense power, and unifying a war-torn world. After she went mad and attempted to destroy it, the Sage of Six Paths defeated her, founded the Ninja Sect, and passed down Chakra. Keiyun treats the account as a legend rather than a complete explanation of the energy’s nature 118.

Keiyun first produces Chakra during his academy training. Its tendency to dissipate leads him to investigate whether it can be accumulated like internal energy. His research develops from shaping Chakra inside his body to exploring finer meridians, comparing his body with Shadow Clones, and circulating his entire energy reserve through the Great Heavenly Cycle 3 4 7 43 106.

Refining Chakra into Mana raises a more troubling question: why does energy produced from his own body initially resist his control? Experiments with transferring Mana to a rat lead Keiyun and Yunxiao to hypothesize that ordinary Chakra contains an inherited will, and that refinement replaces this will with the cultivator’s own. The supplied passages present this as their interpretation, not a conclusively established origin 107 117 118.
