"Yeling, I'm going out to treat someone later, so there's no need to prepare lunch for me today!" Qile said, chewing his breakfast as he turned toward Yeling, who stood quietly beside him.
But when Yeling, who had been silently standing by, heard this, she unexpectedly gave a gentle shake of her head and softly replied, "May I accompany you?"
"Hm? Come with me? Out?" Qile couldn't help but freeze, his chopsticks pausing midair.
He looked up and gazed curiously at Yeling, as though trying to read something in her delicate features.
But soon, as if he had suddenly remembered something, Qile didn't refuse her request. Instead, he smiled and nodded. "You can come along. As it happens, I've been wondering where in Konoha I could take someone out to eat!"
At his agreement, Yeling's expression remained unchanged. She simply bowed slightly to him.
Seeing this, Qile hurriedly waved a hand to tell her there was no need to be so formal. Then he leaned in and lowered his voice conspiratorially. "Actually, you don't have to be so polite and reserved around me. And here's a little secret: once I'm in a position to make the decisions, I'll find a way to get you from the clan head. Then you'll be free again!" After saying this, Qile playfully winked at Yeling.
At a glance, it was clear that Yeling hadn't been subjected to any ideological constraints or brainwashing.
That was precisely why Qile couldn't help thinking that it was a waste for someone so independent, who could also use ninjutsu, to be nothing more than a maid.
Yeling was slightly taken aback by his words, but quickly returned to normal. She said nothing, responding only with a smile of the utmost gentleness.
But as he looked at Yeling, who didn't seem particularly excited, Qile couldn't help feeling that she didn't believe him...
So he quickly reiterated his promise and explained, "Don't worry. If the plan I've already laid out goes smoothly, it shouldn't take more than two months... three at most. You'll be completely free, and you'll even have a chance to become an excellent ninja in Konoha!"
Even though Qile spoke with great conviction, Yeling still didn't show much joy.
A soft, spring-breeze smile remained on her face, making it impossible to guess what she was truly thinking.
She said gently, "I understand. Once you've finished eating, please rest for a while. I'll go to Elder Yan now."
"Huh? Uh... sorry for the trouble," Qile said, scratching his head and nodding, somewhat bewildered.
Then he watched Yeling's back as she left the courtyard. He couldn't shake the feeling that something about her was strange. Frowning slightly, he tried to figure out what was giving him that impression.
He thought hard for a while, but his mind remained a muddle, and he couldn't make sense of it. In the end, he could only shake his head and set the question aside for now.
Next, Qile picked up the plate he had emptied and slowly headed for the kitchen.
Although he didn't mind Yeling taking such attentive care of him, he was still perfectly capable of washing a plate himself.
Before long, Qile had washed the plate and put it neatly away in the cupboard. Then he strolled out of the kitchen and returned to the courtyard.
The sun was shining warmly, bathing every corner of the courtyard and bringing out the vibrant colors of the flowers and the lush green of the plants.
Qile wandered over to the steps by the veranda and sat down casually.
He gazed idly at the beautiful scenery before him, feeling a quiet sense of peace and ease.
As the seconds ticked by, the wait seemed to grow ever longer and more tedious.
Just then, a ripple suddenly stirred his otherwise calm thoughts—he remembered a series of events from the original story.
Almost without thinking, Qile sprang to his feet and hurried indoors. He rummaged around and soon found a sheet of paper and a pen in a drawer.
Then he eagerly sat down at the table, spread out the paper, and put pen to page. The pen scratched across the paper as he began to write...
He didn't record the major events. Instead, he focused on writing down names and places.
As he saw it, if he listed these people and places one by one, he'd be able to piece together everything that would happen in the Ninja World!
While he was bent over, writing furiously, Yeling had already returned without a sound.
She saw Qile absorbed in writing something, but didn't announce her presence. Instead, she quietly stepped closer.
To her surprise, she could just about make out one of the characters Qile had written, but most of them were completely unfamiliar and indecipherable to her.
Still, she didn't ask about them—or perhaps she simply didn't care. She just stood quietly beside Qile and kept him company.
Time slipped by. It was impossible to tell how long had passed.
At last, Qile gave his stiff neck a slight roll, then carefully held up the sheet, now densely covered in writing, and examined it in the sunlight.
Just then, Yeling, who had been quietly waiting beside him, seized the moment to remind him, "I don't know what you're writing, but if you're planning to treat someone to a meal, you'd better set off soon. It's getting late."
Hearing this, Qile slowly looked up at the woman before him. Their eyes met, and he said softly, "Put this away in my bedroom. I'll take a bath first, then we'll go treat them." With that, he rose from his seat.
As he stood, Qile suddenly looked up at Yeling, who was beside him, and asked, "Does Madara know I've awakened my Sharingan?"
Yeling still wore her gentle, spring-breeze smile as she replied softly, "If you haven't told the clan head, then he doesn't know."
At her answer, Qile couldn't help feeling puzzled. By rights, as the maid Madara had assigned to stay by his side, Yeling should have reported such an important matter to him right away.
But now, it seemed she hadn't told him that Qile had awakened his Sharingan!
Could it be that Yeling hadn't been sent by Madara to keep an eye on him?
