Boom!
Xia Shi swung his warblade. The three-meter-tall miniature mech moved with lightness and agility, effortlessly cleaving the monster before him in two.
As for the monsters before them—though they were called monsters, they had initially been human. They could even still maintain human shapes, but beneath those human forms lay powerful mimicry abilities: disguises they had transformed into.
Their true forms, meanwhile, were all manner of bizarre and grotesque things. Over this period, Xia Shi had encountered quite a few monsters. The most horrifying had been a composite of six monsters. All six had undergone partial organ mutations before devouring their original bodies. After merging into one, the six monsters had actually managed to piece together a rough humanoid shape.
At the same time, six monsters and six consciousnesses had somehow been cobbled together into something akin to a hive-mind collective consciousness.
When Xia Shi killed that monster, quite a few fresh heads had still been hanging from its body. It had already learned to enhance its intelligence and processing power by attaching extra "plug-ins."
Perhaps, in the monster's eyes, this was a form of growth. But in Xia Shi's eyes, this was straight out of a horror story.
He could not help wondering whether he had wandered onto the wrong set.
The world he had transmigrated into was clearly a hot-blooded, kingly mecha anime. Men were meant to pilot mechs, cleaving a battleship in half with one stroke—what they played with was passion.
But reality was that, because the war had ended, all knight reserves had been converted into peacekeepers to maintain stability in the human world against the suddenly emerging mutants. Mechs hundreds or thousands of meters tall were out of the question. To deal with complex environments and reduce needless casualties, all mech models were ultra-miniature.
