Background / History
Physician in Green Mountain Town
Xiao Yi Xian worked at the Ten Thousand Medicine Pavilion near the Monster Mountain Range. Local mercenaries praised both her appearance and her medical skill, specifically crediting her with healing Lu Guan’s badly injured arm 10.
Her childhood was marked by her parents’ disappearance and the fear villagers showed toward her. After reading the Seven-Colored Poison Scripture, she connected these memories to her Woe Poison Body, although the passage does not establish precisely what happened to her parents 10.
Recruitment and Departure
Tang Chen sought her out because he recognized her potential to become a Dou Saint. He gave her the Seven-Colored Poison Scripture, revealing her constitution and its dangerous eventual fate. Believing he might intend to kill her, she promised to end her own life rather than harm innocent people if she lost control 10.
He instead offered to stabilize her Woe Poison Body and help her become a leading powerhouse, on the condition that she follow him. She accepted after reviewing the Poison Pill Method and seeing evidence that he already possessed its required three Exotic Flames 11.
Before leaving, she shared some of her gold with Li Fei, her assistant and only close friend at the pavilion. Li Fei nevertheless informed Mu Li of her departure. When the betrayal was exposed, Xiao Yi Xian refused to plead for Li Fei and left the courtyard; Tang Chen subsequently killed Li Fei and Mu Li, then destroyed the leadership of the Wolf Head Mercenary Group 11 12.
Choosing Poison Mastery
After leaving town, Xiao Yi Xian settled with Tang Chen in a secluded, energy-rich valley. She hoped to become an alchemist but learned that she lacked the necessary talent. Initially uncomfortable with the reputation of poison masters, she reconsidered when Tang Chen explained that they could also refine medicines and heal patients 12 13.
Books supplied by Tang Chen began her training. Later, he transmitted a Dou Zun poison master’s inheritance into her mind, sealing its advanced portions until her strength could support them. This gave her a more complete path toward her goal of saving lives through poison mastery 13 27.
Nether Poison Flame and Ten Thousand Poison Cliff
During Tang Chen’s six-month seclusion in the small valley, Xiao Yi Xian was found unconscious in her room, apparently suffering from her poison condition. Tang Chen continued to reassure her that he would help 21.
Information recovered from a metal shard led them to the Nether Poison Flame at Ten Thousand Poison Cliff in the Chu Yun Empire. With Tang Chen monitoring her body and suppressing the flame’s energy, she endured the refinement and established a balance between the flame and her Woe Poison Body 27 30 31.
She subsequently refined the cliff’s poisonous miasma so thoroughly that the surrounding land began growing green vegetation. After reaching Dou Zun through dual cultivation, she accompanied Tang Chen across the Chu Yun Empire, collecting poisons and poison-master resources from its major sects 46 47.
Burning Flame Valley and Later Journeys
Xiao Yi Xian joined Tang Chen’s move to Burning Flame Valley, where her two-star Dou Zun cultivation contributed to the valley’s increased strength. During his seclusion, she cultivated and sparred with the other women using resources he had prepared 52 54.
Ice Venerable later targeted her for capture, pursuing her and Medusa with Ice River Valley and Soul Hall experts. Already wounded, she activated her Woe Poison Body and fought on, but eventually crushed her Space Jade Slip to summon Tang Chen when the attackers overwhelmed them 57.
She later accompanied Tang Chen and Zi Yan into ancient ruins and onward to Dragon Island. After Qing Lin’s rescue, she returned to Burning Flame Valley with them. She also joined the family’s Holy Pill City visit and attended the Pill Gathering before returning to the valley again 76 77 81 104 106 121.
Appearance
- Initial clothing: A pale white gown with a green belt 10.
- Distinguishing build: An exceptionally slender waist, later accompanied by long legs and a taller, fuller figure 10 31 46.
- Complexion and bearing: Fair skin and a fresh, ethereal grace; her appearance becomes more refined as her cultivation rises 10 31 73.
- Hair: Long enough to pin up 62.
Personality
Xiao Yi Xian’s desire to heal remains central even after discovering her poisonous constitution. She fears harming innocent people and initially associates poison mastery with evil, but embraces it once she understands its medical applications 10 12 13.
She is intelligent enough to question the price of Tang Chen’s help rather than assume it is unconditional. Li Fei’s betrayal also reveals a firm boundary: despite their long friendship, she refuses to intervene on Li Fei’s behalf 11 12.
Her cultivation shows considerable determination. She endures the Nether Poison Flame’s severe pain without giving up, pursues poison knowledge eagerly, and later declares that she wants to become strong enough to protect Tang Chen 13 31 46.
In close relationships, she is affectionate, easily embarrassed, and sometimes jealous. Her early insecurity about being merely a small-town physician gives way to greater confidence, while her treatment of Qing Lin remains gentle and protective 20 24 46 81.
