Xia Xueqing had made a rare departure from her usual martial arts uniform today, wearing a white princess dress adorned with pearls. She looked a little less youthful and vibrant, and a little more graceful and regal, drawing constant praise from those around her.
But there was a hint of impatience in her eyes. She hated these large social gatherings; they didn't suit her quiet nature.
Xia Xueqing went over to Chang Rui, who was sitting in a chair off to one side, and glanced around.
"Rui, have you seen Su Bai yet?"
"This place isn't that big. What do you think?" Chang Rui took a sip of coffee and replied crossly.
A trace of worry entered Xia Xueqing's beautiful eyes. "Could he have gotten so caught up training his ninjutsu that he forgot to come again?"
"Hard to say. That boy's a training maniac. He's even turned down the little princess of the Xia Family several times... He really can't tell what matters!"
Chang Rui grumbled. For the past month, Xia Xueqing had been going on about Su Bai every day, asking her to figure out whether he was avoiding her. Chang Rui was sick of hearing about it.
She said irritably, "Honestly, doesn't Su Bai know what family you come from? Why bother training if he's with you? No matter how hard he works, can he become stronger than Uncle Xia?"
