On Sunday, Tang Ziran and his wife brought Tang Wuling to Lin Nuo's apartment to look for him. But the moment they saw such a high-end elevator in that old apartment building, their suspicions about Lin Nuo's identity were all but confirmed. Otherwise, how could such a dilapidated building have an elevator of this caliber?
As a former Federation mecha designer and a pharmaceutical researcher, how could they not know the history of Soul Tool elevator development over the past few years?
This was definitely the safest and sturdiest Soul Tool elevator around. Even if a Titled Douluo blew the building to pieces and left nothing but rubble, the elevator would remain completely intact!
"Dear," Tang Ziran couldn't help saying as he looked at Lang Yue.
Lang Yue understood what he meant from his expression and shook her head helplessly.
Tang Wuling, meanwhile, paid no attention to any of that. "Hurry up, Mom and Dad! Let's go find Lin Nuo and learn forging."
As for the elevator being even newer than the last time she'd seen it, she simply assumed it had been refurbished.
The three of them arrived at Lin Nuo's door. Inside, Lin Nuo and Na'er had already changed their clothes. He was bringing Na'er along again this time instead of leaving her at home.
When she heard that her brother was going to learn forging with a perverted woman—and that he'd even asked whether she wanted to come—she agreed without the slightest hesitation.
She was going to be the Grass Protection Envoy at her brother's side, stopping that perverted woman from harboring improper thoughts about him!
Ding-dong~
As soon as the doorbell rang, Lin Nuo took Na'er by the hand and went to answer it. He opened the door to find Tang Ziran, his wife, and Tang Wuling standing outside. "Good morning, Uncle, Auntie, Wuling."
"Morning, Lin Nuo, Na'er!" Tang Wuling greeted them at once. Tang Ziran and his wife nodded.
Na'er, on the other hand, stepped in front of Lin Nuo and glared at Tang Wuling, who was just a little taller than her. "Perverted woman, don't you dare harbor improper thoughts about my brother! He can only be mine!"
Tang Wuling: "?"
Tang Ziran and Lang Yue exchanged glances. As expected, talented children were popular.
Seeing this, Lin Nuo immediately stepped forward, his tone sincere and apologetic as he said softly, "Wuling, Uncle, Auntie, I'm terribly sorry. Na'er has always been this way—she speaks her mind and doesn't mean any harm. I hope you'll be understanding."
Tang Wuling nodded. "Lin Nuo's little sister is my little sister too."
"Who's your little sister?" Na'er shot back. "I wouldn't want to be the little sister of a pervert like you. I'd turn into a little pervert myself."
Tang Wuling: "..."
"Pfft!" Lang Yue couldn't stop herself from laughing when she saw her little princess get shut down. It was the first time she'd seen her usually lively, affectionate little princess left speechless like this. It was adorable.
Lin Nuo helplessly rested his hand on Na'er's little head and gently ruffled her soft hair, coaxing her with a hint of indulgence in his voice. "All right~ Don't be so hostile."
With his hand holding her down, Na'er couldn't lift her head. Her lips were still pursed, and she'd meant to grumble a few more words in protest. But when she looked up and met Lin Nuo's gentle, slightly helpless gaze, the words died on her tongue.
She puffed out her cheeks, then obediently lowered her eyes, tucking away her little prickles and settling into the role of a prim little lady.
Standing off to the side, Tang Wuling saw the two of them and finally relaxed her tense shoulders, quietly letting out a breath.
She stole a glance at Na'er, who was being obedient but still a little haughty, then at the gentle, patient Lin Nuo. She couldn't help thinking, Na'er is so fierce~ She's nothing like gentle Lin Nuo at all. Are they really biological siblings? How can their personalities be so different?
The little commotion soon passed, and they all headed to Mang Tian Studio in Aolai City.
"Lin Nuo, do you know about the forging profession?" Tang Ziran asked curiously, holding Na'er's hand in one of his and his own daughter's in the other.
Lin Nuo nodded. "Uncle, I know a little about it."
As for why Lin Nuo was being led by the hand by the two of them right now, that was a long story.
Tang Ziran nodded. "That's good." If Lin Nuo hadn't known about it, he'd been prepared to explain the profession to the boy. But given what he and his wife suspected about Lin Nuo's background, it wasn't surprising that the boy knew about forging.
They entered Mang Tian Studio.
A lean, muscular man with blue hair was already standing there, watching them walk in. He sounded impatient as he said, "Tang Ziran, you're late again."
"Sorry, Mang Tian. I brought one more child this time, so we're late," Tang Ziran apologized at once.
Mang Tian couldn't be bothered to say more. He was very forgiving with Tang Ziran, a brother he'd been through life and death with. His gaze slowly settled on Lin Nuo, and his calm expression instantly changed to one of shock. "Innate Full Soul Power?"
He immediately looked at Tang Ziran. "Ziran, is this your child?"
Tang Ziran fell silent for a few seconds, then answered at once. "He's not my child. He's a good friend of my daughter's. I want him to learn forging alongside her."
After hearing Tang Ziran's explanation, Mang Tian's gaze fell on the girl, who had only a little Soul Power. She was obviously Tang Wuling. "Her Innate Soul Power is too low. I'm afraid she isn't suited to becoming a forging master."
Tang Wuling clenched her fists when she heard Mang Tian's assessment.
Tang Ziran was just about to speak, but Lin Nuo spoke up first on Tang Wuling's behalf. "Grandmaster Mang Tian, please don't decide she's unsuited just because her Soul Power Level is low. Maybe she has a low level but can do better than I can. I have Innate Full Soul Power, but I might not do as well as she does. Could you let her give it a try?"
His words were calm, yet everyone present turned their eyes toward Lin Nuo again. Mang Tian looked at Tang Ziran and teased, "The boy's sticking up for your daughter. No wonder you brought him along. He really is..."
Tang Ziran immediately pulled Mang Tian aside. "It's not what you think."
He quickly told Mang Tian what he and Lang Yue suspected.
After hearing his good friend out, Mang Tian fell silent for a moment, then asked, "Do you really think I can teach him? Your daughter can stay, but as for him..."
He'd thought Lin Nuo was an untrained genius. He hadn't expected the boy might actually be someone powerful, raised in a small city. As a Level 4 Soul Engineer, he was probably no match for such a big shot.
"Then just give him a pointer or two. Surely you can do that?" Tang Ziran said.
"That I can do." Mang Tian finally nodded, then returned with Tang Ziran to the children and asked, "Which of you wants to be tested first?"
Lin Nuo looked at Tang Wuling. "Wuling, you go first and let him see what you're capable of."
Tang Wuling nodded and looked at Mang Tian with utmost seriousness. "Grandmaster Mang Tian, I'll go first!"
Looking at the utterly serious Tang Wuling, Mang Tian turned to Tang Ziran again. "That girl really is a lot like you."
Tang Ziran heard this, rubbed the back of his head a little sheepishly, and laughed happily.
Meanwhile, Lin Nuo stood off to the side with Na'er, then began calling Lin Yan. Once Tang Wuling was done, he was going to learn alongside Lin Yan. That was why he'd let Tang Wuling go first.
