Background / History

Huo Li is the dean of Blazing Academy and the father of Huo Wu and Huo Wushuang. He openly dotes on Huo Wu, welcoming and praising her after her breakthrough while completely overlooking Huo Wushuang, a pattern that even Feng Xiaotian teases the latter about. 16

After Huo Wu brings Ling Yun to Blazing Academy, Huo Li is shocked by Ling Yun’s thousand-year second soul ring. He accepts Ling Yun into the academy and comes to regard him as the institution’s most valuable talent. 16 19

When Ling Yun reaches level 30, Huo Li personally leads Ling Yun, Huo Wu, and Huo Wushuang to Sunset Forest to acquire Ling Yun’s third soul ring. He lets the younger soul masters confront the Vajra Bear themselves, but remains ready to intervene if they are endangered and watches over Ling Yun throughout the dangerous absorption process. 19 20

Huo Li later advises Ling Yun to fight at the Great Soul Arena, believing competition against capable soul masters will provide real combat experience and broaden his horizons. 21

After Ling Yun returns from the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well, Huo Li personally tests the Red Fire Dragon Ganoderma before allowing Huo Wu and Huo Wushuang to consume it. The herb strengthens his Fire Qilin’s flame power and raises him to the peak of level 85. 39 40

He accompanies Ling Yun to Skywater Academy and the Ice Seal Forest in search of a water-attribute fifth soul ring. When a thirty-thousand-year Ice Jade Scorpion threatens to prolong the hunt and endanger the still-absorbing Shui Qingyue, Huo Li takes responsibility for defeating it quickly, leaving Ling Yun to deliver the final blow and absorb its ring. 41 45

Personality

Huo Li is protective and conscientious toward the younger generation under his care. He personally escorts Ling Yun on high-risk soul-ring hunts, monitors his absorption for signs of danger, and places Shui Qingyue’s safety above allowing Ling Yun to fight the Ice Jade Scorpion himself. 19 20 45

He values practical foundations over flashy techniques. Although pleased that Ling Yun masters Ring Fusion, he warns him not to neglect soul-power cultivation, calling soul power the foundation of a Soul Master. 19

His affection for his daughter is conspicuous, while Huo Wushuang receives far less attention. 16 40
