Power Progression
| Stage / Realm / Level | Chapter | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Six-year Heavenly Thunder Bamboo | 1 | Manifested as a vibrant green stalk under three centimeters long, resembling Lone Bamboo. Its apparent level-six Innate Soul Power is theorized to reflect the martial soul’s six-year age; it possesses white embryonic Evil-Warding Divine Thunder and can evolve as its accumulated age rises. |
| First soul-ring enhancement | 6 | Absorbed an eight-hundred-year Lone Bamboo ring. The martial soul grew to 20 cm, sprouted one leaf, and developed faint white lightning; the ring improved its toughness and defense. |
| Two-thousand-year Heavenly Thunder Bamboo | 21 | After absorbing a thousand-year Chameleon Vine ring, it grew to 30 cm, gained three leaves and additional thunder patterns, and its Evil-Warding Divine Thunder changed from white to blue. |
| Three-ring blue-thunder stage | 33 | With three absorbed soul rings totaling 6,100 years, its blue Evil-Warding Divine Thunder could power the Wind-Thunder Wings, albeit at substantial consumption. |
| Reconstructed soul-ring foundation | 36 54 | Li Han dissipated his cultivation and shattered his prior rings; after re-cultivating, he re-established three rings as two purple and one black. The skills remained the same but became substantially stronger. |
| Ten-thousand-year Golden Thunder Bamboo | 54 | Absorbing a 13,000-year Purple Thunder Roc ring brought the total ring age to 17,600 years, evolving the martial soul into Golden Thunder Bamboo with golden Evil-Warding Divine Thunder and six golden leaves. A new Heavenly Thunder Bamboo sprouted alongside it. |
| Four-ring propagation stage | 65 | A 25,000-year life-type ring brought the combined ring age above 42,600 years. The martial soul became one Bamboo Cloudswarm Sword, three Golden Thunder Bamboos, and one Heavenly Thunder Bamboo; its Divine Thunder storage increased fourfold. |
| Five-ring / nine-sword stage | 91 94 | The fifth ring added enough age for five more Golden Thunder Bamboo stalks. Li Han refined them, resulting in nine Bamboo Cloudswarm Swords and one remaining Heavenly Thunder Bamboo. |
| Weapon-spirit rebuilding stage | 109 | Silver Moon became the weapon spirit of the Bamboo Cloudswarm Swords and could independently use their soul skills. She used a modified Life Force Transfer to raise a Lone Bamboo from 10,000 to 60,000 years, allowing Li Han to obtain a high-age first ring while rebuilding his cultivation. |
| Twelve-sword / 120,000-year stage | 120 | After the Golden Thunder Bamboo absorbed the age of two further soul rings and reached 120,000 years, Li Han refined three additional Bamboo Cloudswarm Swords, bringing the total to twelve. |
| Sixth-ring sharpening stage | 140 | Li Han absorbed a 76,000-year Shadow Sabertooth Tiger ring and reached level 63. The soul ring further strengthened the Bamboo Cloudswarm Swords’ durability and sharpness, while Silver Moon absorbed its dark-attribute energy to preserve their wood-and-lightning purity. |
| Six-ring high-age configuration | 155 157 | By Li Han's later battles, all six of his soul rings exceeded 60,000 years. The high-age rings elevated even his earliest martial-soul skills into powerful combat techniques. |
| Forty-sword stage | 159 | The sixth soul ring added another seven Golden Thunder Bamboo stalks, all of which Li Han refined, giving him forty Bamboo Cloudswarm Swords. |
| Third reconstruction stage | 170 | Li Han dissipated his cultivation for a third rebuilding cycle. Unlike before, the Bamboo Cloudswarm Swords remained available because Silver Moon had become their weapon spirit; he intended to begin again with an 80,000-year Lone Bamboo ring. |
Background / History
At awakening, the martial soul was mistaken for an ordinary Lone Bamboo because of its appearance. Li Han recognized that it was actually Heavenly Thunder Bamboo: a martial soul whose quality rises with accumulated soul-ring age. Its projected ten-thousand-year evolution, Golden Thunder Bamboo, was described as a divine wood capable of rivaling or exceeding god-level martial souls. 1
Li Han deliberately prioritized high-age, wood-attribute soul rings. Wood attributes would preserve the bamboo’s purity for eventual refinement into Green Bamboo Bee Cloud-style swords, while higher ring ages directly accelerated the martial soul’s evolution. 3 22
Upon reaching the ten-thousand-year threshold, the Golden Thunder Bamboo did not continue evolving. Instead, it produced a new Heavenly Thunder Bamboo, allowing the original Golden stalk to be refined into a Bamboo Cloudswarm Sword while preserving a growing base martial soul. 54 55
The martial soul’s propagation and refinement continued as Li Han acquired higher-age rings. Its Golden Thunder Bamboo form successively produced enough stalks for nine, twelve, and eventually forty Bamboo Cloudswarm Swords. 94 120 159
Silver Moon later became the weapon spirit of the Bamboo Cloudswarm Swords. This bound her to the swords and allowed the refined martial soul to remain usable even when Li Han dissipated his cultivation and rebuilt his soul rings. 108 109 170
Appearance
The martial soul begins as a small green bamboo stalk similar to Lone Bamboo, then steadily grows and develops lightning, leaves, and additional stalks as it accumulates soul-ring age. 1 6 21 54
- Initially under three centimeters long and vibrant green. 1
- Grew to 20 cm after its first ring and sprouted a single leaf bearing faint white lightning. 6
- Reached 30 cm after its second ring; blue electric arcs, three leaves, and thunder patterns appeared. 21
- Its Golden Thunder Bamboo form bears golden Evil-Warding Divine Thunder and six golden leaves. 54
- Can manifest alongside refined Bamboo Cloudswarm Swords, giving the outward impression of Twin Martial Souls. 55 65
- The refined Bamboo Cloudswarm Swords manifest as azure longswords that can surround Li Han in large sword formations; twelve were seen at once during his battle with Chen Xin. 120 121
- By Li Han’s battle with Tang Hao, the martial soul could manifest forty Bamboo Cloudswarm Swords as rows of sword wheels behind him. 159
Abilities & Skills
Evolution and Propagation
The Heavenly Thunder Bamboo gains age through Li Han’s soul rings; greater accumulated age improves its quality and lightning power. At ten thousand years, it evolves into Golden Thunder Bamboo and begins sprouting replacement Heavenly Thunder Bamboo stalks. 1 54
- Its Divine Thunder develops from white to blue, then golden, as the martial soul evolves. 6 21 54
- Each propagated Golden Thunder Bamboo can be refined into a Bamboo Cloudswarm Sword. 54 94
- Its propagated stalks significantly increase its capacity to store Evil-Warding Divine Thunder. 65
- Despite resembling Twin Martial Souls, its multiple stalks remain one martial soul and cannot receive a separate set of soul rings. 54
- Dissipating and rebuilding cultivation does not stack the ages of Li Han’s prior soul rings; he must acquire compatible new rings to rebuild the Heavenly Thunder Bamboo’s age. 36
- The refined sword form has grown from one sword to nine, twelve, and eventually forty Bamboo Cloudswarm Swords. 55 94 120 159
Weapon Spirit: Silver Moon
Silver Moon became the weapon spirit of the Bamboo Cloudswarm Swords after Li Han used the Great Evolution Art to awaken them. She is connected to the swords and can control their soul skills with greater fluency than Li Han. 108 109
- She can operate the Bamboo Cloudswarm Swords’ Life Force Transfer collectively, drawing vitality from multiple plants and concentrating it into another target. 109
- Her control enabled the Age-Accelerating Array, which raised a Lone Bamboo from 10,000 to 60,000 years. 109
- Silver Moon can absorb excess attributes from new soul rings, preserving the Bamboo Cloudswarm Swords’ wood-and-lightning purity; she absorbed the Shadow Sabertooth Tiger ring’s dark energy for this purpose. 136 140
- Her existence as a weapon spirit allows Li Han to retain the Bamboo Cloudswarm Swords during cultivation dissipation and reconstruction. 109 170
Evil-Warding Divine Thunder
The martial soul innately contains embryonic Evil-Warding Divine Thunder, concentrated in its bamboo body and leaves. 1 6
- Blue lightning could be discharged through the bamboo to electrocute a Chameleon Vine in water. 21
- It powers the Wind-Thunder Wings for explosive movement, though this initially consumed a significant portion of the stored lightning. 33
- Golden Evil-Warding Divine Thunder was especially potent in Slaughter City, where soul skills could not be used. 77
- The lightning can be integrated into transformed weapons and Bamboo Cloudswarm Swords. 21 55
- Li Han can channel the Divine Thunder through his left-arm soul bone’s Kirin skill to create an Evil-Warding Kirin, which proved especially effective against the dark-attributed Shadow Sabertooth Tiger. 129 139
- The Divine Thunder’s supremely yang, evil-warding nature greatly enhances the destructive power of Extreme Thunder Prison. 155
First Soul Skill: As-You-Will
A size-manipulation skill gained from the eight-hundred-year Lone Bamboo ring. It freely changes the martial soul’s length, thickness, and weight through soul-power expenditure. 6
- Can extend the bamboo into a staff or spear-like weapon for surprise attacks. 6 7
- Can enlarge it into a ten-meter, bowl-thick bamboo for crushing force. 7
- Following reconstruction, it could extend beyond 100 meters, reach a diameter of three meters, and weigh up to 3,000 jin. 54
- Can be applied to several Bamboo Cloudswarm Swords simultaneously, turning them into enormous pillars to break restraints. 91
- With the amplification of his later high-age soul rings, Li Han could enlarge Golden Thunder Bamboo to mountain-like proportions for direct suppression. 155
Second Soul Skill: Thousand Transformations
A disguise and transformation skill obtained from the Chameleon Vine ring. It changes the Heavenly Thunder Bamboo into any desired form and can disguise the color of its soul rings. 21
- Can imitate swords, arrows, spears, bows, and other weapons. 21 33
- Allows Li Han to conceal his identity and use alternate martial-soul appearances. 21 22
- After reconstruction, it could produce more intricate transformations, including convincing imitations of some beast martial souls. 54
- Its transformations are physical disguises rather than genuine copies of the imitated weapon’s unique functions. 21
- After further high-age ring rebuilding, it could imitate the effects of certain martial souls as well as their forms; for example, a transformed Clear Sky Hammer could be used with techniques Li Han had learned. 155
- Li Han can use Thousand Transformations and his Divine Thunder control to create convincing false soul skills, such as the Gold-Devouring Thunder Spear’s purported Azure Dragon Break. 49
Third Soul Skill: Extreme Thunder Prison
A lightning cage formed from the martial soul’s power. It binds a target before striking its body with condensed lightning. 33
- Can be scaled for wide-area or focused use. 33
- Functions as both restraint and direct offense. 33
- Its destructive power increased markedly after the ten-thousand-year-ring reconstruction. 54
- Li Han used it to restrain four Martial Soul Hall members after killing another Soul Emperor. 70
- After Li Han rebuilt it with a soul ring exceeding 60,000 years, its Evil-Warding Divine Thunder was powerful enough to trap and electrocute Zhao Wuji despite his Martial Soul Avatar. 154 155
Fourth Soul Skill: Life Force Transfer
A life-type skill obtained from the Blue Silver King’s 25,000-year ring. It drains life force from living targets for healing or to promote growth. 65 66
- Withered a ten-year Lone Bamboo almost instantly. 66
- Can accelerate the growth of medicinal herbs. 66
- Its draining speed is lower against stronger soul beasts. 66
- When channeled through the Bamboo Cloudswarm Swords, it can drain an enemy pierced by the swords and inflict severe vitality loss. 67
- Silver Moon can apply the skill as an Age-Accelerating Array, transferring vitality from multiple Bamboo Cloudswarm Swords’ targets into a selected plant. 109
- During Li Han’s third reconstruction, he planned to use its upgraded transfer function to cultivate a Lone Bamboo into an 80,000-year target for his new first ring. 170
Fifth Soul Skill: Sword Qi into Threads
A killing-oriented sword skill derived from the Greenwood Immortal Vine ring and the Bamboo Cloudswarm Swords’ characteristics. 91
- Enables highly destructive sword-qi attacks. 91
- Killed a 30,000-year Scale-Armored Beast instantly. 96
- Unlike Li Han’s more auxiliary martial-soul skills, it is described as a pure offensive technique. 91
- It could shatter Tang Hao’s Disorder Splitting Wind Hammer barrier and wound the Title Douluo. 161
Sixth Soul Skill: World Severance
A powerful severing technique available after Li Han obtained his sixth soul ring from the Shadow Sabertooth Tiger. 140 161
- It is a high-damage sword technique capable of delivering a decisive killing strike. 140
- Li Han employed World Severance against Tang Hao, forcing the latter to answer with his seventh soul skill, Clear Sky Avatar. 161
Heavenly Thunder Bamboo Leaves
The bamboo produces renewable leaves containing divine-thunder power. Plucking them consumes some soul power, but replacements grow within a day. 8
- Leaves can induce benign martial-soul mutations in soul beasts. 8 25
- Xiao Wu’s consumption of the leaves improved her physique, lightning resistance, and ability to conceal her soul-beast aura. 10 25
- Golden Thunder Bamboo leaves may theoretically be used to refine Golden Gang Demon-Extinguishing Thunder, though Li Han considers the process extraordinarily difficult. 8
- Li Han used many leaves to craft the Heavenly Thunder Bead. 20
