In the end, Natsume gave up.
He chose the safer method and decided to lie low here for a while.
"How long do I need to stay?"
"Until that new [Progenitor True God] is resurrected."
"How long will that probably take?"
"Very soon."
"How soon is very soon?"
"Converted to the time on your planet, probably within twenty days..."
"That's not too long, thankfully."
Natsume breathed a sigh of relief.
"But once Xushiki resurrects the new [Otsutsuki Progenitor God], won't I just get slapped to death the moment I go out?"
"Yes."
"..."
"However, you still have a chance of surviving."
"What chance?"
"Wait for the other Otsutsuki to ascend to the rank of [True God] as well."
"[King Zhenruo]? He can succeed too?"
"Uncertain."
"..."
"So, what you mean is—"
"Wait until both of them become True Gods, then escape while they're fighting each other? Escape the [Shiki Origin Realm]?"
"This is the plan with the highest chance of success."
"..."
A trace of bitterness appeared on Natsume's face.
He had worked and struggled for so long, trying every possible way to stop King Zhenruo and Xushiki's plans.
Yet in the end...
All he could do was watch them become gods.
Still, because of the hints he had deliberately given, King Zhenruo and Xushiki outside should both have learned of the other's plans.
They should both be sending people to stop the other, right?
Damn it!
Now he had to pray that both of them successfully ascended to the rank of [True God], so that he could snatch a slim chance of survival from the cracks between them.
What irony!
Whether it was ironic or not, Natsume did not dwell on it.
Being able to survive this ordeal by sheer luck was already fortunate enough for him.
