Having gained a deeper understanding over the years of how Mech Servants had once "cared for" their masters, Jiang Lianqiu was immensely grateful that he was now their absolute authority, and that the Mech Servants under his command no longer went out of control.
The Mech Servants in reality seemed far more thorough than those in the game settings when it came to controlling their masters—or rather, their Living Displays.
Thus, although the behavior patterns of these Mech Servants were somewhat absurd due to their operating logic of absolute obedience, Jiang Lianqiu did not say much.
After helping Belfast back upright, Jiang Lianqiu coughed. "Ahem, you guys... well, what are your names?"
"Reporting to Commander! I am third-level authorization subunit 007!"
"I am third-level authorization subunit 018..."
The Mech Servants in the front row began rapidly announcing their designations from left to right—things that were more like code names than actual names. Jiang Lianqiu froze for a moment before hurriedly raising a hand to stop them.
"Hold it. No need to report your names!"
Frowning, Jiang Lianqiu added:
"Belfast should have already told you about your duties. I'm adding one more rule: come up with proper names for yourselves. Names that make you sound like people."
A faint glow, distinctly inhuman, flickered in the eyes of every Mech Servant. A moment later, they all saluted Jiang Lianqiu in perfect unison.
"That's it?" Seeing the Mech Servants remain silent, Jiang Lianqiu pointed at the one who had introduced himself first. "You. What's your name?"
The Mech Servant immediately fixed Jiang Lianqiu with a fervent, resolute gaze and shouted at him as though he were being sworn into the Party, "Reporting to Commander! My name is Montgomery!"
Jiang Lianqiu: "..."
Is it really okay for you to call yourself Montgomery with that Eastern face?
"And you? Don't tell me your name is MacArthur." Jiang Lianqiu looked at the one beside him.
"Obeying orders, Commander! I have changed my individual identification code to MacArthur!"
Next, Jiang Lianqiu heard a string of names he knew all too well.
There was a Zhukov, a Ridgway, a Napoleon, and damn it, even a Nimitz. Nimitz was bald—who exactly were you mocking with that full head of lush hair?
In the blink of an eye, he had gathered a full hundred famous generals from across history and around the world under his command... and there were even dozens of goddamn war criminals among them!
In the end, Jiang Lianqiu grabbed a Mech Servant girl named Rommel, who clearly looked like a sweet young girl, and questioned her for quite some time before finally understanding. These people had directly connected to the human internet on the spot, and while searching for human names, they had also included their identities as generals among the search parameters.
Naturally, they had found a whole pile of famous human generals, then happily divided the entire list among themselves.
Finally, Jiang Lianqiu gritted his teeth. "You are not allowed to use famous people's names! Think of your own! Especially those dozens of idiots using war criminals' names! This place is not some disgusting public restroom!"
Jiang Lianqiu had never imagined that the focus of his first formal exchange with his Mech Servants would be their names...
