Background / History

Feng Cang was the Dean of Godwind Academy before abandoning that position to serve as the bodyguard of six-year-old Xue Yao and the Farack royal family. His decision drew ridicule from others, who believed he had discarded the dignity of a Spirit Douluo for an inexplicable post; Feng Cang had instead recognized Xue Yao as an opportunity capable of securing the Feng Clan's future for generations 29.

As head of the Feng Clan, he accepted Xue Yao's proposal for an offensive and defensive alliance between the clan and Farack Kingdom. In exchange for protection of the royal family, the Feng Clan received twenty percent of Farack's chamber-of-commerce profits and a tax-exempt plot in Farack City 21 22.

After witnessing eight-year-old Xue Yao kill a five-thousand-year Wind-Breath Dragon through mental commands alone, Feng Cang concluded that Xue Yao was a monstrous talent who might one day become a god. He immediately treated the feat as Farack's highest secret, coercing all 250 witnesses into silence and confiscating their rosters to hold their families as leverage 29.

Xue Yao later entrusted him with a booklet on wind-attribute spirit-power circulation and improvements to Feng Xiaotian's Chain Slash. The teachings enabled Feng Cang to break a twelve-year bottleneck, leading him to elevate Xue Yao into a revered benefactor of the Feng Clan 31 32 33.

Appearance

An elderly, slightly chubby man with a gray beard and aged eyes. His ordinary, almost comical demeanor vanishes when he acts as a Battle Spirit Douluo 29.

  • Gray beard, which he accidentally pulled out while stunned by Xue Yao's power 29
  • Turbid old eyes that become bloodshot under intense killing intent 29
  • Rough, calloused hands 60
  • His martial soul manifests as a silver-furred Two-Headed Gale Demon Wolf with a faintly opening third eye 33

Personality

Feng Cang is calculating, ambitious, and intensely pragmatic. He recognizes exceptional opportunity quickly, as shown by his willingness to leave Godwind Academy and attach the Feng Clan's future to Xue Yao before the boy's full potential was publicly proven 29.

He is also ruthless when security is at stake. To conceal Xue Yao's strength, he threatened the families of royal soldiers, seized their rosters, and made clear that any leak would be met with extermination 29. Xue Yao approves of this decisive streak, viewing Feng Cang as possessing the temperament of an overlord 29.

His gratitude toward Xue Yao gradually becomes fervent devotion. After his breakthrough, he ordered Feng Clan members to worship Xue Yao before their ancestors and imposed severe penalties for anyone who treated Xue Yao's cultivation booklet irreverently 33.
