During Mu Tianyi's first year in the Outer Court, the academy expelled Ma Xiaotao after her uncontrollable Evil Fire was deemed incompatible with official enrollment. The decision was made by Martial Soul Department Dean Yan Shaozhe amid public outrage over the possibility of an Evil Soul Master within Shrek. 30

After Mu En recovered from his hidden injuries and returned to peak condition, he imposed a major institutional reform: all Shrek students were required to study Soul Tools, ending the academy's previous emphasis on martial-soul cultivation alone. 52

Shrek later intervened when the Iron Blood Sect assaulted the Tang Sect.
