Before marriage, a son-in-law naturally fears his father-in-law, and the father-in-law finds the son-in-law displeasing.
Naruto Uzumaki feared meeting Hyuga Hiashi most of all; the old man was incredibly powerful, always wore a stern face, and possessed a terrifying Byakugan.
Naruto rarely crossed paths with him, yet he had run into him this time, and right in the middle of Hinata's courtyard, no less.
"Good day, Uncle Hiashi. I was just bringing Hinata home."
Naruto's body stiffened for a moment before he hurriedly bowed.
His usual cool demeanor vanished without a trace, leaving him flustered and awkward, much like a mouse encountering an old cat.
Hiashi said nothing, his Byakugan gazing indifferently at Naruto.
Flying Thunder God, huh? A brat who truly makes one wary.
Hiashi thought to himself.
Hiashi was a classic case of a sharp tongue with a soft heart. As a father, he didn't have much aversion to Naruto; he was a descendant of a prestigious lineage with immense talent and great strength.
More importantly, Hiashi had personally inspected the fist techniques Hinata had been practicing, and they were very strong.
This was the reason why, despite his annoyance, Hiashi had never stopped them.
But as the saying goes, while he was satisfied as a father, as the head of a clan, it was basically impossible for someone of Naruto's current status to marry Hinata.
The Hyuga clan had always practiced internal marriage, to say nothing of the eldest daughter of the main branch.
"Hmph, so you've grown strong and now you don't even put the Hyuga clan in your eyes."
Although he was satisfied deep down, he couldn't help but find the kid annoying no matter how he looked at him.
Needless to say, he always felt this kid was up to no good, getting close to Hinata at such a young age.
If it weren't for his special status, he would have beaten him to death long ago.
"That, um..." Cold sweat beaded on Naruto's forehead.
Usually, he only walked Hinata to the main gate.
But this time, due to some unexpected circumstances, he had brought her all the way to the house.
He hadn't expected to be caught by the father-in-law on this very first occasion.
He wondered if the old man would believe him if he said, "Old man, I was just simply bringing your daughter home."
But looking at the current situation, it was clear the old man wouldn't believe it.
"Father." Hinata finally couldn't listen anymore and spoke up in a small voice.
She hadn't wanted to make a sound, fearing her father would notice something unusual about her.
Sure enough, Hiashi's gaze shifted to Hinata, and seeing her eyes closed, his brows furrowed instinctively.
"What happened to your eyes?"
A hint of worry leaked into Hiashi's voice.
"It's nothing, just excessive use of my eyes."
Hinata smiled, struggling to open her eyes; although there was some discomfort, it didn't affect her too much.
When those Byakugan eyes looked over, Hiashi felt a flicker of something strange, but it vanished quickly.
He didn't pay it much mind, or perhaps his worry suppressed all other emotions.
"Mm, get some good rest and you'll recover by tomorrow."
This wasn't an unheard-of situation, and seeing that there was nothing visibly wrong with Hinata's eyes, Hiashi felt much more at ease.
Seeing that Hiashi wasn't paying attention to him, Naruto subconsciously took a few steps back, preparing to leave.
"Wait, come with me."
Hiashi finished speaking and turned to walk away.
Naruto hesitated, looked at Hinata, and finally followed him.
The two arrived at another residence.
Hiashi stood there with his back to him, saying nothing.
Naruto stood there awkwardly, wanting to move but not daring to.
The Byakugan possessed a 360-degree field of vision with no blind spots.
The other man could see Naruto's every movement clearly.
"What is going on with Hinata's eyes?"
Hiashi's flat voice drifted over.
"We were sparring today, and she overused her Byakugan."
Naruto bit the bullet and explained.
"Mm."
It was unclear if Hiashi believed him, but he didn't ask any further questions.
The atmosphere turned cold for a moment.
This was their first formal meeting.
"Go back. Remember to use the front gate next time."
Hiashi's cold voice rang out.
Hearing this, Naruto Uzumaki felt as if he had just been released from prison.
He didn't wait for the man to finish his sentence before activating the Flying Thunder God.
"Damn brat."
It seemed everything he had just said was a waste of breath.
He couldn't help but let out a sigh afterward.
Back on his side, Naruto Uzumaki breathed a secret sigh of relief.
Hiashi was exactly the type of person Naruto Uzumaki disliked the most.
Over the next two days, Naruto Uzumaki put in some effort to train his taijutsu.
Time flew by in the blink of an eye, and it was already the third day.
Since he had to pick up Hinata today, Naruto Uzumaki woke up early.
After washing up, he activated the Flying Thunder God, and his body vanished in an instant.
As for Hiashi's instructions? Heh.
Before Hinata could react, the two of them had already arrived at the school gate.
This was the destination for the first exam: the written test.
"Moron, I thought you two were going to be late again."
Sasuke sounded impatient.
Naruto Uzumaki turned his gaze toward the person standing beside him.
The man wore the Uchiha uniform, a smile on his face, and he looked at his younger brother with doting eyes. The two lines running from his nose to his mouth marked his identity.
Itachi Uchiha.
Unlike the Itachi Uchiha from the original story, he now seemed like an ordinary Uchiha, devoid of any gloomy aura.
Naruto Uzumaki couldn't help but stare at him; this was one of his favorite anime characters from his past life, known as the God Itachi.
What made Itachi Uchiha truly formidable was his combat talent, his ability to kill his opponent in the most efficient way possible during a fight.
"You must be Naruto Uzumaki. My brother has caused you quite a bit of trouble."
Itachi Uchiha spoke quite gently.
Naruto Uzumaki was surprised; he hadn't expected Itachi Uchiha to have changed so much, or perhaps this was who he had been all along.
Although his father is dead, he should be considered happy now.
A flicker of joy rose in Naruto Uzumaki's heart; this was proof of his own transmigration.
He had already changed the fate of many people.
Sasuke was immediately displeased, especially with Naruto Uzumaki watching.
"Brother, Naruto Uzumaki is the troublesome idiot here."
Itachi Uchiha didn't argue, merely patting Sasuke on the head.
"Heh, Itachi Uchiha, I've heard a lot about you."
Naruto Uzumaki smiled.
Hinata, who had been indifferent, turned her gaze toward the man.
She still remembered when Naruto Uzumaki had introduced the Mangekyo Sharingan to her, he had mentioned this person.
However, Hinata's eyes couldn't see yet, so she could only sense him slightly.
Itachi Uchiha noticed this instantly, his gaze locking onto the young girl.
A girl from the Hyuga Clan? What's wrong with those eyes?
Itachi Uchiha sensed something unusual.
Naruto Uzumaki became vigilant in an instant, casually stepping in to block Itachi Uchiha's line of sight.
He wasn't afraid of the man himself, but he was worried about Itachi Uchiha targeting others; after all, the guy's mind was a bit unstable.
In the original story, Itachi Uchiha was a master of genjutsu, and now he had also obtained the eyes of Shisui.
Even without using Kotoamatsukami, other genjutsu enhanced by Shisui's eyes could instantly subdue a jonin.
Itachi Uchiha didn't seem to mind Naruto Uzumaki's wariness.
He smiled, exchanged a few more words, and then turned to leave.
"Stop dawdling, you idiot. Plenty of people have already gone inside."
Seeing his brother leave, Sasuke's personality immediately turned sour again.
Before you go
