He also had plenty of experience training Anbu. When Danzo had offered his services, how could Hanzo refuse such a capable subordinate? The two hit it off, and Hanzo even gave Danzo the number-two spot in Amegakure, letting him return to his old line of work and establish a new Root there!

Obito didn't rush into action. After spending several days searching, he finally located Danzo.
Beneath an abandoned house in Amegakure was the headquarters of Danzo's Root. He was training Anbu for Hanzo while also teaching a child with the codename Jia.
That child was a survivor of Orochimaru's First Hokage Cells experiments—the future Little Prince of Greening, Yamato.
During his years in Amegakure, Danzo had carried out a great many human experiments. Though he still couldn't eliminate the risks entirely, he had gone ahead with a First Hokage Cells transplant. Every night, Obito's demonic presence haunted him and kept him awake. He hated it! He hated how strong Obito was! He hated the Third Hokage's indecisiveness, hypocrisy, and ingratitude. He hated the Second Hokage for not choosing him to become Hokage. He hated how unfair the world had been to him.
Danzo now had one arm in a sling, wrapped in bandages across his chest, and half his head was bandaged as well. He looked very much like his counterpart in the original story, almost like a cripple.

Danzo suddenly sensed someone breaking in. Panic seized him, but he put on a bold front and said, "Who dares show off in front of me?"
"You mangy stray. It's been years, and you don't even recognize your grandpa Obito?" Obito said mockingly.
"Obito? Obito Uchiha! How did you find me here?" Danzo was in a complete panic. The psychological scars Obito had left him with were so deep that they had directly led to his defection and indirectly pushed him into the risky First Hokage Cells transplant!
Right, I've already transplanted First Hokage Cells! I've mastered the First's power! And I have that jutsu! I'm not the man I used to be! Danzo regained his confidence. In a low voice, he said, "Obito Uchiha, you really are a persistent nuisance! Since you've come looking for death, I'll grant it to you!"
With a pop, the bandages around his arm snapped and fell to the ground, revealing a deathly pale right arm and the ten Sharingan embedded in it! Danzo had no intention of hiding his strength. He knew just how powerful his opponent was. Hiding his strength would be no different from suicide!

"So this is the power of your Sharingan? Those really are covetable eyes." Danzo glanced at his arm without giving anything away. Nine left. He had nine minutes left... Getting Obito's eyes would make it all worthwhile!
"Are you thinking you've got a few minutes of invincibility left, and that taking my eyes would be a nice bonus?" Obito kept messing with his head.
!!! How does he know so much about my situation?! And I know so little about his abilities!
Izanagi had a time limit, and the longer this dragged on, the worse it was for Danzo. But he didn't dare deactivate it, because any one of Obito's attacks could kill him! Danzo forced down his unease and charged at Obito! If ninjutsu wouldn't work, he'd switch to Taijutsu!
"Obito Uchiha! Don't underestimate me. I was killing enemies on the battlefield before you even knew what the world was!"
