When Tooru Amuro left the hideout, the ones seeing him off were his three academy classmates.
They had just seen that utterly unscientific egg and discussed Tangze's situation. It was only natural that they wanted to talk things over now, and no one asked any unnecessary questions.
"Tangze's emotional defenses are even stronger than I thought." Matsuda Jinpei had an unlit cigarette between his lips as he walked out, speaking somewhat indistinctly. "I haven't really asked you in detail yet. What exactly did that organization do to him?"
Matsuda Jinpei's questions had always gone straight to the heart of the matter.
Kenji Hagiwara and Hirotsugu Morofushi immediately turned their eyes toward him as well.
Tangze could not possibly have volunteered such information. Hoshikawa Teru, Akemi Miyano, and Shiho Miyano had all been restricted in their movements at the time, so they would not have known much either.
Hirotsugu Morofushi had once been deeply involved with the organization, but compared to Tangze, he had interacted more with Tang Ze Yichuan, Tangze's father. They had not had direct contact, either, since Scotch had mainly served as a sniper.
As for Tangze's entanglement with the organization, and how he had survived under its surveillance until he came to Tokyo, the person who knew best was Tooru Amuro, who had remained within the organization all along.
"He'd been wary of that organization before, but he never said anything so defeatist. You should've seen him when he first woke up." Matsuda Jinpei shook his head. "He might as well have had 'It's all my fault' written across his face."
Matsuda Jinpei did not know what Tangze was thinking, but he knew no one would blame an underage boy for things without reason.
For Tangze to think that way, he must truly have received that message
