Mori Kogoro's mouth twitched as he listened to Azusa Enomoto's account, leaving him somewhat speechless. "He ate exactly 3,000 yen worth of food and specifically asked for a receipt..."
"Didn't you say any information related to him would do?" Azusa Enomoto gave an awkward laugh. "He ordered yakisoba, vegetable ice cream, and a Caesar salad. It came out to exactly the amount, so he didn't need any change."
"He studied the menu for quite a while to make it come out that perfectly." Conan shrugged. "Well, going to such lengths for a meal and asking for a receipt at least doesn't sound like someone so deep in debt that creditors were threatening to kill him, right?"
"It sounds more like he had a dedicated expense account and was keeping his spending right at the reimbursement limit." Tooru Amuro rested his chin on his hand, his gaze sweeping across Tangze's face.
Whether as Bourbon, an intelligence operative, or as Furuya Rei of Public Security, he had always been given a generous budget, so he had never really had that problem.
Well, the Organization covered most of his reimbursable expenses. As for Public Security, they only handled expenses that could not be disguised well enough to keep the Organization from noticing.
Gin had quite a few complaints about their methods, and he did not really believe that Tooru's spending at upscale establishments was being perfunctorily recorded line by line as investigation expenses. Still, he was the only one in the Organization shameless enough to ask for receipts after spending money, so Gin could not exactly say much.
Submitting receipts for reimbursement was still more respectable than simply holding out a hand and asking for money, wasn't it? It was hard to imagine an ordinary Organization codename member doing this kind of work
