Background / History

Fu Qingyang is a direct descendant of the Fu Family and the only son of its patriarch. He grew up abroad and endured a difficult youth: the family regarded his swordsmanship aptitude, combat talent, and constitution as unexceptional, deriding him as a “triple-zero product.” 90 868

Rather than accept that judgment, Fu Qingyang built his strength through extreme discipline. He set himself a goal of ten thousand sword swings each day and concentrated almost entirely on Five Elements Alliance affairs and cultivation, believing he had to work ten or a hundred times harder than naturally gifted rivals. 243

By the time he was posted to Songhai, he had become a prominent White Tiger Corps figure. His reputation rested on both wealth and combat ability; while still at the Transcendent Stage, he survived against a Saint-level Evil Profession for the time it took to burn an incense stick. 89

Appearance

Fu Qingyang is a tall, athletic man with sharply chiseled features and a short ponytail. His usual immaculate white suits, cold bearing, and insistence on presentation give him the image of a young noble or emperor. 89 303 304

  • Handsome, sharply defined face described as sculptural. 95
  • Usually wears crisp white suits and keeps his hair in a stylish short ponytail. 89
  • Possesses a balanced, heavily trained physique with defined musculature. 304
  • Often carries himself with aloof authority, particularly after returning from major battles. 303

Personality

Fu Qingyang is intensely proud, demanding, and protective of his dignity. He is blunt with subordinates, dislikes disorder, and habitually maintains a detached expression even when pleased. His pride is rooted less in effortless genius than in the discipline he used to overcome his poor early aptitude. 150 243

He is also calculating and politically capable. Fu Qingyang can manipulate public opinion, frame an enemy through carefully chosen intelligence, negotiate with elders, and recognize strategic opportunities quickly. He considers public opinion useful pressure, but believes real results ultimately depend on strength and influence. 231 422 510

Despite his harsh instruction and cutting remarks, he consistently protects people he considers his own. He defended Yuanshi Tianzun before the elders, shielded his identity records, refused to surrender him to the Taiyi Sect, and pursued both revenge and revival after Yuanshi was believed dead. 167 305 513 657 659

Abilities & Skills

Skill Nearing the Dao

Fu Qingyang’s defining sword technique has reached the level of a rule. Its core effect is a nearly unavoidable, “certain-hit” slash rather than guaranteed lethality. 226 520

  • Instantly defeated Blazing Sacred Fire with a single slash during the arena tournament. 226
  • Could threaten Saints to the point that only highly defensive Earth Monsters could reliably endure it. 311
  • Its effectiveness is limited by the user’s available sword qi and stamina; repeated maximum-output strikes can leave Fu Qingyang near collapse. 782
  • Requires relentless refinement rather than rapid breakthroughs; Fu Qingyang describes swordsmanship as requiring accumulation or an epiphany between life and death. 851

Scout Insight

As a Scout, Fu Qingyang possesses exceptional observation, analysis, and situational judgment. 304 689

  • Reads behavior and expressions to identify concealed information or intentions. 304
  • Analyzes incomplete historical records and identifies the motives hidden behind omissions. 426
  • Deduced that Huo Zhengkui likely concealed a bronze relic within a patriotic cultural-relic donation. 689
  • His Insight can be countered by dense fog that blocks perception and disrupts battlefield control. 903

Puppet Control

At the Dominator stage, Fu Qingyang functions as a battlefield commander capable of directing large groups through puppet-control threads. 859 903

  • Deep control turns soldiers into emotionless puppets and lets him transmit his own power through the control threads. 903
  • Shallow control conveys commands while allowing Spirit Realm Walker subordinates to retain their own combat abilities. 903
  • Coordinated two thousand infantry and eight hundred cavalry with rapid feints, encirclements, and attacks on weak points. 903
  • Uses soldier puppets and flying swords alongside his own swordsmanship in combat. 868 904

Tactical and Political Strategy

Fu Qingyang’s judgment extends beyond battlefields.

  • Directed the investigation and arrest of Xiahou Tianyuan and Xiahou Xin using collected evidence and spirit-inquiry intelligence. 89 95
  • Planned Yuanshi Tianzun’s staged death to draw out Dark Night Rose’s contact, Unjust Heaven. 101
  • Fabricated a cover story to divert headquarters’ attention from Yuanshi’s role in the High Plain of Heaven affair. 422
  • Proposed and built a mechanism-weapon business structure that gave him control of sales, distribution, maintenance, and funding. 566 571
  • Organized new judicial and supervisory departments to reduce the Nine Elders’ control over the Five Elements Alliance. 659 1045

Equipment / Weapons / Items

  • Court Swordmaster Cloak — A black cloak embroidered with golden cloud patterns that increases Fu Qingyang’s active and passive skills by 40%. Its cost prevents him from using items of other professions while wearing it. 458
  • Cold Iron Jade Dragon / Jade Dragon Sword — Fu Qingyang’s true sword, summoned for his duel against Tuoba Guanghe; it was ultimately shattered during their battle. 868 904
  • Golden Crow Seal — Used to purify poisonous smoke and petrification beams during the counterattack against Catherine’s group. 781
  • Grudge-Seeking Lamp — Used to track the murderer responsible for the Chaomen District massacre. 319
  • Soldier Puppet Storage Box — Holds bronze soldier puppets for large-scale combat. 868
  • Life Essence — An expensive healing consumable Fu Qingyang uses to rapidly recover from injuries. 304

Relationships

  • Zhang Yuanqing / Yuanshi Tianzun — Subordinate, protégé, and eventually close friend. Fu Qingyang recognized his potential early, promoted and trained him, repeatedly protected him from political pressure, and pursued revenge and revival after Yuanshi’s apparent death. 80 150 305 657 659
  • Guan Ya — Maternal cousin. She relies on Fu Qingyang’s support in Songhai despite friction between her and the Fu Family elders. 309
  • Fu Qingxuan — Elder sister and the Female Marshal. She criticizes his recklessness, monitors his dungeon runs, and supports him during the conflict following Yuanshi’s death. 529 656 657
  • Fu Xue — Aunt and Guan Ya’s mother. Their relationship is shaped by Fu Family power struggles and Fu Qingyang’s growing influence. 309 510 571
  • Dog Elder — Senior official and adviser. Dog Elder approved the formation of Yuanshi Tianzun’s squad and regularly discusses Yuanshi’s conduct with Fu Qingyang. 146 398
  • Ling Jun — Ally and longtime acquaintance. They work together in Songhai and later reunite during the Southern Dynasty war instance. 80 859
  • Xiahou Aotian — Business partner and manufacturer in Fu Qingyang’s mechanism-weapon company. 566 571

Story Role / Major Arcs

Songhai Investigations

Fu Qingyang becomes Zhang Yuanqing’s direct superior after recognizing his investigative ability. He gives Yuanshi a captain-level contact card, supports his assessment within the Alliance, and directs the crackdown on Xiahou Tianyuan’s crimes and Dark Night Rose’s Songhai network. 80 89 150

He later designs the plan to fake Yuanshi Tianzun’s death in order to lure out Unjust Heaven, treating Yuanshi as a trusted collaborator rather than merely a junior subordinate. 101

Arena Tournament and Sovereign Advancement

Fu Qingyang demonstrates his Skill Nearing the Dao in the Spirit Realm arena, defeating Blazing Sacred Fire before the latter can meaningfully respond. 226

He enters the Saint Realm Slaughter Dungeon and advances to Sovereign, returning seriously wounded but more authoritative and mature. 303 304

Mentor and Protector of Yuanshi Tianzun

After becoming a Sovereign, Fu Qingyang refuses the Female Marshal’s demand to hand Yuanshi over to the Taiyi Sect. He later recruits Yuanshi into the patrol team and subjects him to a same-level sparring session meant to teach him combat fundamentals through harsh experience. 305 310 311

He also backs Yuanshi in political disputes, assists with the Evil-Breaking Talisman deal, protects Yuanshi’s family records, and intervenes behind the scenes during Yuanshi’s trial. 343 513

Business and Alliance Reform

Fu Qingyang establishes a mechanism-weapon company with Xiahou Aotian as manufacturer, securing himself control over sales and distribution while providing funds for Yuanshi’s group. 566

Following Yuanshi Tianzun’s apparent death, Fu Qingyang executes the Cai Family’s upper echelon for their involvement, threatens to split the White Tiger Corps from the Alliance, and forces institutional reforms against the Nine Elders’ authority. 657 658

He then oversees the formation of new judicial and supervisory departments, recruiting respected elders to make the Alliance less dependent on headquarters. 659

Southern Dynasty War Instance

As Yang Ce, the Southern Dynasty’s Grand Marshal, Fu Qingyang commands the defense of Summer’s Edge City against the Northern Dynasty’s four-hundred-thousand-strong army. 859

He accepts Tuoba Guanghe’s three-strike wager, ultimately wounding the stronger Ancient War God by throwing the Jade Dragon Sword with all his remaining power. 868

Later, he leads thousands of troops through puppet control, fights Tuoba Guanghe directly, and coordinates with Zhang Yuanqing to defend the capital. 903 904

Final Preparations and Aftermath

Fu Qingyang continues dungeon diving until he reaches Level 9, determined to strengthen himself for the approaching final battle. 939 1015

During the conflict with the Fear Heavenly King, he uses the Sunrise Talisman to suppress the enemy’s abilities and remains composed despite direct provocation. 1030

After the crisis, he represents the Sun Lord and the Alliance Leaders in restructuring the Five Elements Alliance into seven major branches, giving the Nine Elders three days to accept the new order or leave. 1045
