Following the beam of Liu Chang'an's flashlight, the others also saw the dead fish on the riverbank, as well as the trees that were more withered and devoid of life than elsewhere.

Miao Yingying and Bai Hui exchanged glances and involuntarily took several steps back. No longer trying to investigate the anomaly, they hid behind Liu Chang'an and Gao Dewei.

"Let's go back." Liu Chang'an looked ahead, then spoke to Gao Dewei.

"Why?" Though something was clearly strange about this place, Gao Dewei was not especially scared. He had never been one to quit halfway through.

"This isn't far from that tomb-robbing tunnel. It's very possible that the grave robbers triggered some mechanism in the tomb, causing what we're seeing now. The more scientific explanations might be magnetic fields, radiation, heavy-metal contamination, and so on. Or some other cause modern science can't explain..." Liu Chang'an waved his flashlight. "Safety first. Don't wait until there are not only dead fish and dead snakes, but little animals like Bai Hui and Miao Yingying dropping dead too, turning into shriveled things with no flesh or blood."

Being called a little animal was kind of cute, so Miao Yingying did not argue with Liu Chang'an. More importantly, she wholeheartedly agreed with his suggestion. That idiot Gao Dewei was actually asking why? Didn't he feel how terrifying this scene was?

Then again, if he had any sense, he would already have been intoxicated in Miao Yingying's tender embrace.
