Zhong Qing took the call. Upon hearing Liu Chang'an say it was a special creature, he dispatched a team in a specially modified helicopter painted with medical markings to retrieve it.
Zhong Qing should ordinarily have handled this in person, but there was no way around it now. Zhu Juntang was struggling on the verge of death, resisting in every possible way, like the ugly army fleeing Afghanistan—scurrying about like homeless dogs while still finding time to sabotage things and mess with people's heads.
Zhong Qing had to pacify Zhu Juntang and accompany her personally. Nobody else was up to the task; only Zhong Qing could request Third Mistress Zhu's instructions at any time to keep Zhu Juntang under control.
Xiangtan University's underground base was very close to the Mount Lu valley in a straight line. Before long, Liu Chang'an and Li Hongfang heard the helicopter, then looked up to see its silhouette and lights in the sky.
The valley offered no conditions for a helicopter landing. After hovering overhead, a tall man jumped down, glanced at Liu Chang'an and Li Hongfang, gave a slight nod, and tossed a bag onto the ground.
Liu Chang'an recognized the man. He had seen him twice.
The first time had been at a convention. Zhu Juntang had brought a group of men in black to dance backup for Bai Hui. In the end, each of those men had carried a plush toy and followed the imposing Zhu Juntang away. This man had been among them.
The second time had also been at a convention. Zhu Juntang had used Alpaca Kung Fu on Liu Chang'an, going "pfft pfft pfft," then sent a group of men in black to try and stop him. Their leader had been called Gao Shou—the very man standing before them.
