Character developments and interactions
- Hagoromo stands firmly against his mother, choosing his brother and ordinary people over Kaguya’s promise of power and longevity. Manji’s return renews his hope, and the Rinnegan gives him confidence that he may now be able to challenge Kaguya himself.
- Kaguya is shocked to find Manji alive and frustrated that Hagoromo opposes her. She is forced onto the defensive by Manji’s enhanced strength.
- Manji returns as Hagoromo’s protector and takes control of the confrontation, directing Hagoromo to save Hamura while engaging Kaguya. His exchange with Kaguya is hostile; he rejects her questions and focuses on fighting.
- Hamura is restored through the talisman, reuniting the brothers after his apparent death.
Significant themes
- Family loyalty versus domination: Hagoromo’s loyalty to Hamura and humanity conflicts with Kaguya’s belief that her sons should stand above mortals.
- Choice and responsibility: Hagoromo holds Kaguya responsible for Hamura’s death rather than accepting her attempt to shift blame.
- Hope and reversal: Manji’s unexpected survival and Hamura’s revival overturn Hagoromo’s despair, while Kaguya’s apparent control of events is challenged.
