Background / History

Tang San had been a God King in the Divine Realm for ten thousand years. During that time, he passed down the Mysterious Heaven Skill to the Tang Sect, but only a limited portion of the Mysterious Heaven Treasure Record was left at his Ice Fire Yin Yang Well trial: herb lore, Immortal Realm Flower and Herb collection, and the principles of medicine and poison. The core Tang Sect techniques and god-slaying hidden weapons were not included. 73

After sensing Su Qingfeng's emergence as a brilliant new star on the Douluo Continent, Tang San became concerned with the youth's potential and the continent's future. He later instructed Tang Hao and Ah Yin to find Su Qingfeng, train him, and seek a marriage alliance with Tang Wutong. 73 263 264

In the Divine Realm, Tang San resisted unrestricted divine descent to subordinate planes, arguing that it could damage both the planes and the Divine Realm's development. He ultimately accepted a compromise permitting up to three gods to descend to each plane simultaneously. 263

Tang San personally attempted to recruit Su Qingfeng as his disciple, offering divine protection and invoking Mu En's mortality to persuade him. Su Qingfeng refused out of loyalty to Mu En. 311

His conflict with Su Qingfeng escalated into a struggle for control of the God Realm. Tang San used the Central Core as leverage, tried to compel Su Qingfeng to marry Tang Wutong and adopt the Tang surname, and later abdicated as Law Enforcement God and imprisoned himself while retaining control of the Central Core. 399 400

During the final confrontation, Tang San fought Su Qingfeng with the Sea God Trident, Asura God Sword, Central Core, and large-scale divine techniques. The return of the original Asura God King, Evil God King, and Goddess of Goodness destabilized his divine positions and enabled the old God Kings to reclaim the Central Core. Personality

Tang San is protective of his family, particularly Tang Wutong, and initially intended to personally assess any prospective husband for her. 257

As a God King, he presents himself as a guardian of order and balance, opposing unchecked divine interference with mortal planes. 263 However, when his authority and plans are threatened, he becomes increasingly coercive and desperate, using the Central Core to pressure other gods and seeking to eliminate Su Qingfeng as a growing threat. 399 423 425

He is also evasive under public accusation. When Su Qingfeng and the Goddess of Light were discovered injured in the God's Dungeon, Tang San denied involvement and blamed the God of Darkness. 394

Tang San's trial at the Ice Fire Yin Yang Well was passed by Su Qingfeng, who obtained a book containing Tang San's limited Tang Sect knowledge. The removal of the Immortal Realm Flowers and Herbs altered the site and left it needing thousands to tens of thousands of years to recover. 73

Recruitment of Su Qingfeng

Concerned by Su Qingfeng's potential, Tang San urged Tang Hao and Ah Yin to bring the youth into the Tang Family through training and a possible marriage to Tang Wutong. He later personally offered to accept Su Qingfeng as a disciple, but was rejected. 263 264 311

Conflict for the God Realm

Tang San's attempts to retain authority brought him into open conflict with Su Qingfeng, Tang Wutong, the God of Destruction, and other gods. He used the Central Core to force concessions, including a proposed marriage arrangement and surname change for Su Qingfeng. 399 400

Final Defeat and Imprisonment

Tang San fought Su Qingfeng directly, escalating from divine skills to the Central Core and the combined power of ten thousand gods. The original God Kings returned, stripped away his control of the Central Core, and rendered his defeat unavoidable. 423 424 425 426

By Chapter 435, Tang San was captive at the Judgment Cross, where he attempted to use his remaining Buddha's Fury Tang Lotuses as bargaining leverage before Xiao Wu gave him purplish-green soup. 435
